Role: Sql dba with azure Location: atlanta GA Contract: Long term Client: E&y $65/hr on C2C Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced SQL Database Administrator (DBA) with expertise in Microsoft Azure to manage and maintain our SQL Server databases in both on-premises and cloud environments. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, and traditional SQL Server infrastructure. You will play a key role in ensuring high availability, disaster recovery, performance optimization, and security of our databases. Key Responsibilities: Manage and maintain SQL Server databases across on-premises and Azure cloud environments, ensuring reliability, scalability, and performance. Implement and optimize Azure SQL services, including Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, and SQL Server on Azure Virtual Machines. Monitor and troubleshoot database performance using tools like SQL Profiler, Extended Events, and Azure Monitor, resolving performance issues proactively. Perform backups, restores, and disaster recovery planning for databases in compliance with business continuity and DR strategies. Optimize database performance through index tuning, query optimization, and server configuration adjustments. Automate database administration tasks using PowerShell, T-SQL, or Azure Automation to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort. Establish and enforce database security protocols, including encryption, firewall settings, and access controls, to ensure data protection. Perform database migrations from on-premises SQL Server to Azure environments, ensuring minimal downtime and data integrity. Collaborate with development teams to support application deployments, troubleshoot issues, and provide guidance on database-related concerns. Set up and manage Azure SQL Database High Availability and Disaster Recovery configurations, including failover groups and geo-replication. Participate in Change Management processes to document and review database changes for compliance with IT policies. Maintain documentation of database configurations, procedures, and policies to support operations and compliance. Provide on-call support for production systems on a rotating basis, responding to urgent issues to minimize downtime.
