**Job Description**
**Job Summary**
Troubleshoots hardware and software problems, assists users with desktop applications and provides user training. Utilizes applications such as Altiris to track user requests from trouble-ticket generation through problem resolution. Escalates a problem to other network or system support personnel when the problem is not easily identified and corrected.
**Knowledge/Skills/Abilities**
- Mentors, trains, and supervises other team members.
- Designs and implements special projects and/or equipment (entire research systems: computers, instruments, data acquisition, communication, and security).
- Develops, defines, and delivers project timelines and milestones in a timely manner.
- Develops and maintains disaster recovery plans for key critical systems and servers.
- Installs, configures, maintains, repairs specialized systems/applications and provides system support in a networked environment.
- Interacts with other departments/units on a troubleshooting and knowledge sharing basis.
- Researches, specifies, and recommends specific hardware and software for the department/unit.
- Performs ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Configures CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required.

**Job Qualifications**
**Required Education**
Bachelor's Degree in Computer, Business Field or equivalent experience
**Required Experience**
6+ years computer related experience in supporting multiple projects/solutions on Microsoft Windows and/or SUN Solaris operating systems as well as LAN/WAN infrastructure support experience with routers, switches, and firewalls
**Required License, Certification, Association**
A+ or Server+ certification
Network+ or equivalent; Security+ or equivalent
Systems Administration/System Engineer certification in Microsoft, VMware, and/or Unix
**Preferred Education**
Master's Degree in Computer or Business Field
**Preferred Experience**
Knowledge of Virtualization technologies, IIS, SharePoint, and SQL Server.
**Preferred License, Certification, Association**
PMP, CISSP
ITIL Foundation Certification
Hardware / Software Vendor Certifications.
i.e. Cisco, Checkpoint, Nortel, etc....
