Job Title: Sr. Analyst, Market InsightsA little bit about our team:WMG's Business Intelligence team (BI) works to influence WMG's strategy and day-to-day operations by developing thoughtful insights & intelligence from its core business practices. The BI team works with various departments across our central Functional Areas as well as the Recorded Music & Publishing Divisions to understand the trends and dynamics that drive the constant evolution of WMG's business. This position sits within the Market Insights segment of the BI team, and works with Corporate Financial Planning & Analysis, Digital Finance, and the Labels to provide financial forecasting and analysis of the music industry and of our Digital Service Providers. Our goal for this role is to strengthen our ability to anticipate how and where the industry is evolving, and critically to help build and maintain financial models used for decision-making processes. The teams we work with are located throughout the world with over 40 offices worldwide.
Your role:Data is the lifeblood of today's music business. Business Intelligence sits at the intersection of Strategy and Operations; where key issues are analyzed, and global strategy is developed. This role will be key to informing navigational decision-making at the highest levels of WMG. You will use forecasting, advanced financial modeling, and research skills to constantly improve our signals intelligence as we aim to better understand how the ever-evolving digital landscape will impact our future. This is a highly visible role within a mission-critical team that produces intelligence sought-after by the entire organization. You will engage with C-level and Senior executives throughout the organization who will depend on your knowledge and output to make their decisions. Here you'll get to:- Support the development and maintenance of forecast models including global music industry, digital advertising, physical formats, and more.
- Update / maintain monthly U.S. financial and operating metrics from Digital Service Providers and participate in preparing variance explanations with WMX Finance team.
- Become the trusted Market Insights partner for our record labels by preparing and communicating regular market conditions analyses and updates.
- Prepare and consolidate key business metrics for executive monthly report, working in tandem with Corporate Finance to develop perspective on music industry performance and comparable WMG metrics.
- Conduct ad hoc analyses alongside Business Intelligence as needed by the business.
- Assist with submitting public information to third-party industry organizations such as the IFPI and RIAA.
- Assist with preparing presentations for meetings with senior management and internal business reviews.
- Work closely with WMG's Finance, Data, Technology, and Business Development teams.
About you:Required Competencies and Skills
- Highly developed analytics, problem solving, and visual storytelling skills
- Ability to synthesize quantitative data and qualitative intelligence points into cohesive insights.
- Intermediate to advanced SQL skills
- Advanced financial modeling skills
- Excellent Excel and PowerPoint skills and attention to detail
- Results oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple projects at a time
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Strong experience with building and iterating on decks/presentations, data file backup
- Intellectual curiosity, passion for music and data
Education / Experience Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Analytics, or Accounting from a top university.
- 3-5 years minimum experience in a business and/or financial analytics role.
We'd love it if you also had:- 1-2 years of Investment Banking, Consulting, or Business Development experience.
- Experience with SAC (SAP Analytics Cloud)
