SUMMARY The Senior (Sr.) Business Analyst is responsible for creating and maintaining complex reporting to inform partners across multiple internal teams. Along with reporting, this role includes utilizing technical skills to create tools that will increase the accuracy, efficiency, and ability of teams across JOANN. The Sr. Business Analyst will utilize project management skills to complete projects with team members on and off the analytics team while maintaining good communication and timeline control. Responsibilities extend to all merchandise areas, all stores, and all functions within Merchandise Planning, Replenishment and Merchandising. Additional stakeholders include Finance, Sourcing, Supply Chain, Stores, and Marketing.
JOB DUTIES - Build Reporting Tools/Systems: Reports are created, and tools built as necessary to continue to drive new levels of understanding within inter-functional and cross-functional groups across JOANN.
- Develop new reports or tools when required that are easily understood by the end user.
- Ensure reports and tools are easily maintained using the applications and software available.
- Create reports/tool with the future in mind such that they continue to deliver accurate and reliable results in the future.
- Project Management: Lead project teams within Analytics or across cross-functional groups.
- Assemble requirements from project stakeholders.
- Create and maintain timelines for project deliverables.
- Communicate to project team and stakeholders effectively.
- Ad Hoc Analyses: Complete analyses as needs arise with accuracy and clarity.
- Ensure timelines are being met to deliver reporting on time.
- Communicate challenges and changes to timelines to management and stakeholders.
- Maintain Reporting: Complete regularly scheduled reporting on time and with stakeholders in mind.
- Ensure underlying data and published information is completely accurate prior to publishing.
- Generate reports on pre-determined timelines.
- Communicate changes to reporting schedules, addition of new information, removal of information, or any other changes to the report which would affect how it is used and/or understood.
- Understand what the reporting displays, how it effects the business and how reported figures are derived.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Education Minimum: Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business, Retail Merchandising, Computer Science, Information Systems or Analytics Education Preferred: Graduate Degree with a focus in Data Science, Analytics, Computer Science, Supply Chain or related field Experience Minimum: 3-5 years of experience in an analytical role or practical retail experience in Planning, Replenishment or Merchandising. Functional knowledge of Microsoft Excel, SQL, and Tableau. Experience Preferred: 5+ years of experience leading cross-functional projects with diverse stakeholders. Experience and comfort with utilizing some or all of the following platforms/languages/ERS Systems: Microsoft Excel, SQL, Python, Tableau, SAP, HANA Studio, JDA Enterprise Planning, JDA Demand and Fulfillment.
WORKING CONDITIONS - This role requires in-person attendance 4 days a week at the Store Support Center (SSC) located in Hudson, OH. Flexibility to work remotely when requested is determined by management and business needs.
- Sit or stand at a workstation for extended periods while maintaining focus and productivity.
- Move around an office space and between buildings on a large campus, including reaching for files, retail product, supplies, or equipment, as well as the ability to adapt to various workstation setups.
- Work standard business hours and extended hours as needed based on task and project demands.
- Utilization of all communication styles - written, verbal, electronic options.
- Lift and carry office supplies, documents, retail product or equipment weighing up to 20 pounds as needed for tasks such as organizing or setting up workstations.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES - Creative & critical thinking when working with data and problem solving.
- Ability to lead end-to-end projects with minimal supervision.
- Strong verbal and writing skills, including speaking effectively to all levels of an organization.
- Knowledge of the retail industry, including functional experience with retail business systems such as SAP R/3 Retail.
- MS Office and Advanced Microsoft Excel knowledge.
- Knowledge of database querying languages, such as SQL, required
- Prior experience working with Tableau or other with data visualization tools required.
