We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Cloud Database Administrator to join our existing Cloud Database team. The Sr. Cloud Database Administrator will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and maintaining our cloud-based database systems. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of cloud technologies, database management, and a strong ability to optimize database performance and security in a cloud environment.
Job Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and manage cloud-based database solutions, ensuring high availability, scalability, and reliability.
- Collaborate with software developers, system administrators, and other IT teams to define database requirements and architecture for various projects.
- Monitor and optimize the performance of cloud databases, identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks and ensuring optimal query performance.
- Plan and execute database migrations, upgrades, and patches while minimizing downtime and ensuring data integrity.
- Implement and maintain database security best practices, including user access control, data encryption, and vulnerability assessments.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, performing root cause analysis and implementing preventative measures.
- Develop and maintain documentation for database configurations, processes, and procedures.
- Ensure data backups, disaster recovery, and business continuity strategies are in place and regularly tested.
- Stay up to date with emerging cloud and database technologies, evaluating their potential benefits and making recommendations for their adoption.
- Provide technical support and guidance to development teams for database-related matters.
Skills/Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Database Administrator, with a focus on cloud-based environments.
- Strong expertise with AWS and proficiency in cloud database services.
- Solid knowledge of relational database management systems (e.g., Oracle, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, DocumentDB).
- Experience with database design, performance tuning, and query optimization.
- Familiarity with database security best practices and data privacy regulations.
- Hands-on experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Terraform, Chef) for automation and monitoring.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex database issues.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
- Relevant certifications in cloud technologies and database management (e.g., AWS Certified Database – Specialty) is a plus.
- RDBMS/OS: Oracle; MS SQL Server; MongoDB; Postgres, MySQL, Windows, Linux
Applications/Services Tools: Experience with the following will be considered a plus:
- AWS Data Migration Service, AWS Relational Database, Oracle OEM, SQL Management Studio, Chef, DataDog
- Must possess (5+) years of hands-on Oracle Database Administration experience, with RDS being a heavily weighted plus. Must possess AWS experience.
- Certification or equivalent hands-on experience in managing and monitoring production workloads in AWS.
