You'll lead with purpose, breaking down barriers to innovation in a more connected, compassionate world.A Day in the LifeThis individual will be part of a corporate Global Trade Legal & Compliance team in the Global Operations and Supply Chain Legal Department composed of lawyers and compliance professionals that combine deep substantive expertise in global trade areas core to Medtronic's business with in-house understanding of Medtronic's businesses. Team members work across business units and geographies resulting in unique ability to 1) advise businesses on complex legal regulatory questions, 2) identify common and conflicting legal issues and positions across the company, and 3) contribute to high-level policy decision-making.The Sr. Compliance Manager, Global Trade Legal & Compliance will aid in the ongoing enhancement of our global trade compliance program, ensuring adherence to import regulations, export controls, and sanctions laws. They will be responsible for managing, creating, and enforcing global policies, procedures, training, and systems that support global trade compliance.This position could reside in either Minneapolis, MN; Washington, D.C.; or near a Medtronic site in the U.S. This position reports to the Director of Global Trade Legal & Compliance.Responsibilities include the following and other duties may be assigned:Develop and implement ongoing trade compliance program that drives accountability for compliance with import requirements, export controls, and sanctions regulations.Partner with enterprise supply chain, regional trade experts, and global/regional functional teams to manage trade compliance risks and work with such teams to implement effective controls to mitigate themPartner with corporate and regional compliance teams to implement trade compliance program activitiesEnsure legal requirements related to company's global trade compliance policies and processes are currentProvide support to colleagues on global trade related litigation, compliance investigations and voluntary disclosuresCollaborate with Global Trade Operations and Office of Ethics & Compliance along with other internal stakeholders in support of risk assessment, auditing and monitoring activitiesIdentify and drive mitigation of global trade legal risks that cross Medtronic businesses and facilitate information sharing across Medtronic businessesCollaborate with business and regional partners on due diligence reviews of global trade compliance matters in connection with potential business development activitiesSupport the development and delivery of legal and compliance training for employees on various global trade compliance requirementsExhibit a collaborative mindset in working globally, particularly in a matrixed environmentPossess effective interpersonal, oral, presentation, and written communication skillsMust Have: Minimum RequirementsBachelor's degree with 7+ years of project/program management experience with global trade compliance programs in a large-scale corporate environment and 5+ years of managerial experience, or an advanced degree with 5+ years' experience and 5+ years managerial experienceNice to HaveExperience in the healthcare/medical device industryUnderstanding of the legal regulatory environment and business risks for a life science companyExperience with change management and/or process efficiency efforts (i.e. Lean Sigma)Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environmentProven influence management skills, both internal and external, with savvy to communicate effectively with leadersPhysical Job RequirementsThe above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees assigned to this position, but they are not an exhaustive list of all the required responsibilities and skills of this position. The physical demands described within the Responsibilities section of this job description are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
