Summary:
Under general direction provides technical expertise in the implementation and maintenance of relational database systems in support of related applications. Resolves complex database and application performance issues, database capacity issues, data replication, and other related data issues. Responsible for quality control and auditing of databases to ensure accurate and appropriate use of data. Consults with and advises users on access to various databases. Works directly with users to resolve data conflicts and inappropriate data usage. Advises management on database and data mapping concepts and functional capabilities. All responsibilities require technical knowledge of multiple platforms and databases (E.g. Oracle, DBU, SQL, iSeries, pSeries).
Responsibilities:(25%)* Monitors relational databases to optimize database performance, resource use, and physical implementations of databases. Maintains development, test, and production environments.
(25%)* Performs database integration tasks including migration between disparate databases, integration and maintenance/conversion.
(25%)* Works with end users on appropriate access to databases, data conflicts, data extracts, and data integration with applications.
(25%)* Resolves complex database and application performance issues, database capacity issues, data replication, and other related data issues.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides information to system administrators, operators, and technical support staff to ensure file reliability and consistent database and application performance.
Leads the coordination and implementation of new applications and upgrades. Coordinates multiple projects. Communicates information to IT and user community on key changes. Develops a project plan including timeframes and resource management.
Administers, maintains, and implements change control policies, standards, documentation, and procedures pertaining to the management, security, integrity, and utilization of relational databases and applications.
Reviews impact of user requests, in and across applications utilizing existing system development methodology. Assists user community in prioritizing and planning implementation of program changes and application upgrades.
Works on committees, work groups, and other projects as assigned; prepares monthly report and describes progress on key projects and vital programming statistics.

Required Education:Associates Degree
Bachelors Degree or a minimum of an Associates Degree in a computer related field with 7 years of experience
Other Information:EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND SKILLS:
**Four to seven years computer related experience, which includes two years database and/or interface experience required.
Knowledge of, Oracle, and/or Unix.
Leadership skills, team orientation, project management, problem solving and communication skills required.
Mandatory Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) training must be completed annually according to the Exposure Control Plan.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as, trauma, grief and death. Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position. Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description. Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s). Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching. Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material. Must follow MyMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required. Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake. Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling. May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis. Physical Demand Level: Sedentary. Must be able to occasionally (0-33% of the workday) lift or carry 0-10 lbs.
