This position works out of our Altavista, VA location in the Abbott Nutrition division. Our Nutrition business develops science-based nutrition products for people of all ages, from helping babies and children grow to keeping adult bodies strong and active. What You'll Work On
* Provide input and oversight into sanitary design elements of new and existing equipment.
* Responsible for evaluating effectiveness of current & future sanitation practices and procedures.
* Assist in development, planning, and execution of all plant-related facility engineering activities including a wide variety of mechanical, plumbing and electrical components, but not limited to: building HVAC, roofs, floors, drains, utilities and fire protection systems
* Gather and review data concerning facility or equipment specifications, company or government restrictions, required completion date, and construction feasibility.
* Coordinate in developing facilities modifications or acquisitions.
* Review and estimate design cost including equipment, installation, labor, materials, ensure conformance to established drawings, specifications, schedules.
* Develop facility management policies and procedures.
* Responsibilities include supporting HVAC, DI water, process gas, desiccant dryers, humidifier, generators, compressors, chillers, etc.
* Comply with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments. Maintain positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.
Required Qualifications
* B.S. in Engineering with a preference for a Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Chemical Engineering OR an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
* 3+ years of experience with engineering responsibility in a regulated industry, with preference being for food, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, cosmetics, etc.
* Ability to work independently, good troubleshooting skills, perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures, ensure compliance with engineering specifications and local building codes.
* Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment.
* Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects.
* Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.
* Multitasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner.
* Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail.

The base pay for this position is $72,700.00 - $145,300.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
