Sapphire HR Solutions is proud to present this opportunity for our client, a well established manufacturing company in Northeast Ohio:Join Our Team as a Sr. Forging Design Engineer!Are you a creative and detail-oriented engineer with a passion for forging design? We are looking for a dynamic Forging Design Engineer to join our team at [Company Name]. If you thrive on designing innovative solutions and working collaboratively with cross-functional teams, this role is perfect for you!What You'll Do:
  • Innovative Design: Develop forged part and tooling designs for both airfoil and non-airfoil products. This includes mastering all forge processes such as extrusion, upset, blocker/preform, and final forge.
  • Collaborative Review: Work closely with customers and Process Engineering to ensure all design requirements are accurate and acceptable.
  • Precision CAD Modeling: Create detailed CAD models and drawings for forged parts and tooling.
  • Advanced Simulation: Utilize DEFORM simulation software to evaluate die designs.
  • Problem Solving: Troubleshoot forge tooling problems and participate in new tooling development trials.
  • CNC Programming: Design CNC programs for machining forge die tooling and collaborate with tool room personnel to provide instructions and documentation.
  • Vendor Coordination: Provide design information and guidance to outside vendors on the design and build of forge tooling.
  • Support & Assist: Aid Tool Room, Quality Control, and Metrology teams with CAD modeling and dimensional layout assistance.
  • Quoting & Estimating: Partner with Process Engineering to create part layouts for quoting and estimating new products.
  • Continuous Improvement: Engage in Kaizen and Continuous Improvement workshops at our Cleveland location and other company sites.
Skills and Abilities:Read and interpret engineering drawingsWorking knowledge of CNC programming and machining. Understand 3D geometryProficiency in CAD - CATIA 5 preferredCollaborate with colleagues on the floor and with and customer representatives. Ensure understanding and follow-up.Tech-Savvy: Comfortable with computer systems, new equipment and technologies.Experience and Education:BS degree in mechanical engineering or related field.5+ years in a die design engineeringMetal working design - forge knowledge a plusMust have experience in a manufacturing environment required.Why Us?
