Job Details:

The Senior Director of Diabetic Education will provide administrative leadership and clinical oversight for the outpatient diabetic centers of excellence and diabetic education programs across the Catholic Health continuum. The Director will develop policies and procedures for the delivery of service as well as a growth plan for expansion of services. This position directs the operational activities for the diabetic education department. The position identifies, plans, organizes, communicates, implements and measures activities and strategies that promote growth, clinical excellence, patient satisfaction, fiscal prudence, enhanced communication, optimal clinical productivity and system success.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops and implements clinical and business strategies in accordance with organizational goals. Maintains an in-depth knowledge of the changing healthcare environment and evaluates the market need for specific clinical services or programs.
  • Provides administrative and clinical oversight and coordination for the development of the Diabetic Education Program.
  • Develops and monitors program guidelines, policies and procedures for service delivery.
  • Identifies the need for quality and performance improvement initiatives in accordance with strategic direction.
  • Develops and implements plans for clinical, administrative and safety improvement processes in collaboration with Service Line Clinical and Administrative Vice Presidents as well as Medical Group leadership.
  • Ensures the effectiveness, standardization and compliance with federal and state, CMS and third party payor regulations.
  • Collaborates with Catholic Health medical group and clinical departments for the expansion of services.
  • Develops guidelines for diabetic education ancillary staff including but not limited to nutritionists, nurse practitioners, and other clinical support staff in the program.
  • Maintains up to date knowledge of industry trends in weight loss, endocrinology and diabetic education.
  • Develops strategic plan for the growth of outpatient diabetic education services across the Catholic Health continuum.
  • Conducts Quality Assurance meetings for the diabetes education programs.
  • Adheres and upholds the Catholic Health Mission, Vision and Values, and Catholic Health's system performance Standards.
  • Assists with the recruitment of appropriate staffing for approved positions to support the service line initiatives and supervises and provides administrative and operational guidance to directors, managers, supervisors and CDCES who are responsible for daily operations and management of the specialty line. Employs analytical judgment, develops business justifications and business plans, manages projects, organizes resources, consults and solves problems. Maintains open communications with physicians, staff and management.

Local travel to various physician offices and hospitals will be required.

HIPAA:

  • Employee conducts himself/herself in conformity with the HIPAA Compliance Program and applicable institutional policies and procedures for patient privacy. In addition, employee conducts himself/herself in conformity with CHS Security Policies and Procedures.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current licensure by New York State Department of Education as a Registered Nurse.
  • Board Certified in Advanced Diabetes Management.
  • Certified Diabetic Educator.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to drive between system entities.

Experience:

5 years' experience practicing as a diabetic education specialist.

3 years' experience in the development and oversight of an endocrinology and diabetic education program.

Posted Salary Range: USD $150,000.00 - USD $175,000.00 /Yr.

This range serves as a good faith estimate and actual pay will encompass a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience. The salary range or rate listed does not include any bonuses/incentive, or other forms of compensation that may be applicable to this job and it does not include the value of benefits.
