Overview:

The Sr. Director LS Commercial BD Excellence will be responsible for partnering with LS Commercial teams to drive process excellence within the field of commercial organization. This individual will partner with commercial leadership to develop and install best in class business systems practices that improve sales execution. In addition to developing and installing best in class tools, this individual will also be responsible for driving a kaizen and continuous improvement culture across the LS Commercial organization.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

  • Develop, implement, and manage commercial tools and processes, which will be used to drive sales performance across all business segments and regions.
  • Work with senior leadership to strategically deploy the developed tools and processes throughout the global LS Commercial organization. Goal is to move from new tools to tools that become part of the ethos of how BD executes commercially.
  • Work with LS commercial leadership to develop core competencies with clear ownership within each BU and regional team to drive continuous improvement and a Kaizen culture without segment oversight.
  • Establish certified practitioners in each BU in the utilization of commercial excellence tools, including Funnel Management, Growth Rooms, Problem Solving and Kaizen.
  • Drive the art of problem solving, using a Toyota based approach to creating paretos and developing actions to solve key issues (80/20 rule).
  • Work across the BDX commercial organization, including regional leaders to ensure consistency of messaging and frameworks.
  • Refine and standardize SFDC usage, including funnel management, definitions and dashboards.
  • Proactively champion a culture of data driven decision making across BD life sciences, including training, coaching, and mentoring associates on best practice methodologies and toolsets.
  • Serve as a change ambassador to drive organizational awareness and adoption of newly developed tools and processes.

KSA Requirements (Knowledge, Skill, Abilities)

  • Proven commercial abilities including expert level understanding of funnel management, SFDC utilization, Growth/Win rooms and commercial problem solving.
  • Experience working for a commercially driven organization with a rigorous sales process that is clearly defined and executed.
  • Ability to facilitate complex cross-functional meetings and initiatives that achieve and sustain desired outcomes.
  • Excellent communicator who can drive clarity of thought and change through influence.
  • Strong work ethic, with proven experience demonstrating learning agility and an entrepreneurial mindset.
  • BA/BS or equivalent in life science, engineering, finance or strategy.
  • 10+ years of experience within the commercial sector.
  • Global experience. Have lived abroad.
  • Significant experience with the implementation of best-in-class tools, including Visual Project Management, Kaizen and Problem Solving.
  • Highly effective communication with excellent organizational skills.
  • Outstanding analytical skill set and background.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to articulate ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience presenting to senior leadership in a concise manner.

Desired Skill / Experience

  • Certification in Business systems and Lean Tools.
  • Certification as a trainer or facilitator.
  • Experience in a regulatory environment (FDA).
  • MBA.
  • Strategic mindset. Can think tactically and strategically.
  • Desire to grow into a commercial leadership position.
