Summary:
The Sr. Director of Construction will report to the Chief Operations Officer and will manage all bidding management activities for Lee Contractings large projects, including overseeing project management, preconstruction, subcontractor management, and coordination. The role will ensure projects are built according to contracts, specifications, and drawings. They may also review construction plans for value engineering and optimal construction methods.
Responsibilities:
Leadership and Management:
- Regularly evaluate the total portfolios performance and be a key contributor in leadership reviews to support strategic investments in the companys growth of general contracting work
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of project managers, preconstruction managers, superintendents, and other construction professionals.
- Foster safety, quality, and continuous improvement culture across all construction teams.
Client and Stakeholder Management:
- Develops and maintains relationships with potential clients, subcontractors and vendors to help develop new opportunities.
- Address and resolve any client concerns or issues related to construction projects.
- Ensure all stakeholders are informed of project progress and any scope, schedule, or budget changes.
- Support business development efforts by attending client meetings, presentations, and negotiations as needed.
- Verifies accuracy of front-end estimating for feasibility of projects. Tracks duration of estimates and overall volume.
Project Execution:
- Execution of key construction projects as needed, from inception to completion.
- Ensure that all projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget
- Identify process improvements through disciplined project management analysis and implement improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
- Monitor project performance and implement corrective actions to address any issues or delays.
- Conduct regular site visits to ensure compliance with company standards, client expectations, and regulatory requirements.
Financial Management:
- Manage construction budgets, forecasts, and financial reports.
- Work closely with the finance team to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting for construction projects.
- Identify opportunities to improve profitability through cost management, resource allocation, and process optimization.
Requirements:
- BA/BS or commensurate experience
- 8+ years of progressive construction management experience
- Experience managing teams
- Highly motivated individual with passion for leadership, customer service, follow-through and learning
- Ability to handle difficult and sensitive situations.
- Ability to self-prioritize, negotiate, and manage requests from multiple sources.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
