Sr. Director of Programs - Food Education Fund (FEF)

WHO WE ARE

Food Education Fund (FEF) is a 501(c)(3) career-development nonprofit transforming the lives of public high school students across all five boroughs of New York City. FEF prepares students for their future, equipping them with workforce development through innovative programs and hands-on learning experiences in the hospitality industry.

FEF provides programming to NYC public high school students, offering them experience and exposure to diverse career paths and the resources to develop core life skills—communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and empathy—that are invaluable within and beyond the hospitality sector.

ABOUT THE POSITION

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Senior Director of Programs (SDP) will serve as a critical member of the executive leadership team and will collaboratively articulate, implement and operationalize the strategic vision, mission and goals of the organization. The SDP will oversee the programs and related services, and will continually evaluate the effectiveness of programs to provide ongoing feedback; guide strategic service delivery to strengthen funding diversification and youth outcomes. The SDP will contribute and participate in raising the agency's profile externally by providing productive guidance, supervision, and professional development to all program management staff; and, and, continuously improve, strengthen the structure of the organization.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Strategic Oversight

  • Understand and promote the organization's Mission, Manifesto, and Core Values internally and externally to ensure alignment with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Provide leadership and supervision across all areas of programming to support staff and partner schools
  • Set and communicate the programming goals to ensure it aligns with the organization's strategic direction to ensure alignment with program operations.
  • Oversee the development and execution of strategic initiatives and projects to drive program growth and improvement.
  • Ensure effective governance practices by collaborating with the Leadership Team and other key stakeholders.

Continuous Quality Improvement

  • Maintain compliance with partners including the DOE, industry and corporate supporters, and other regulatory bodies.
  • Implement regular program evaluations and assessments to identify areas for improvement and ensure adherence to quality standards.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by encouraging feedback from staff, families, and stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement improvement plans based on evaluation findings to enhance program effectiveness and outcomes.

Program Design and Management

  • Maintain and oversee the fiscal health of programs, including budgeting and expense management.
  • Provide administrative oversight and ongoing monitoring using Salesforce and other web-based tools.
  • Coordinate with the executive team to align program design with strategic goals and organizational needs.
  • Oversee resource allocation and procurement to support program activities and ensure optimal use of funds.

Data Analysis and Reporting

  • Provide comprehensive data analysis and reporting using Salesforce and internal web-based systems to maintain standards and enhance program outcomes through informed decision-making.
  • Analyze program data to identify trends, strengths, and areas for improvement, and develop action plans based on findings.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on program performance, outcomes, and compliance to stakeholders
  • Utilize data to track progress towards KPIs, ensuring alignment with organizational standards and regulatory requirements.

Communication

  • Collaborate with the Communications and Executive Team to share program updates and highlights.
  • Develop and maintain effective communication channels with staff, students, partner schools, families, and community partners to ensure transparency and collaboration.
  • Represent the program at external meetings, conferences, and events to build partnerships and promote the program's mission and achievements.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Collaborate with school partners, sponsors, parents and the community at large to design and deliver high-quality programming that aligns with preparing students for success.
  • Engage stakeholders in program activities and decision-making processes to ensure their voices are heard and valued.
  • In collaboration with the Executive Team, foster strong relationships with school partners, local organizations, and other stakeholders to support program goals and initiatives.
  • Organize and participate in community events and meetings to promote the program and build a network of support.

Training and Capacity Building

  • Facilitate regular training sessions and workshops for staff to ensure the implementation of best practices in workforce development in and beyond the hospitality industry.
  • Mentor and coach staff to develop their skills and competencies in program management and execution.
  • Develop and implement individualized professional development plans for staff based on performance evaluations and identified needs.
  • Complete annual formal evaluation of all program staff and programs.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree required, Master's preferred. A minimum of five years of experience with supervision, management or leadership in education, workforce development, hospitality, or a related field.
  • A minimum of three years of experience working with multiple stakeholders in support of youth education or workforce development

Key Competencies:

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
  • Strong administrative skills are required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills, particularly in Salesforce, Project Management, and data management tools.
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills (ability to meet deadlines)
  • Commitment to professional development for themselves and their staff

COMPENSATION: The salary for this position is commensurate with experience and will be between $85,000 and $100,000.

START DATE: This is a full-time position beginning in September 2024.

BENEFITS: The Food Education Fund (FEF) offers all full-time employees a Health Insurance Reimbursement Arrangement (ICHRA), paid family leave and sick time, commuter benefits, and 401(k) matching contributions. All full-time employees are eligible for 22 paid vacation days per year, (5) safe/sick days, and two (2) floating holidays.
