Job Summary

The Senior Director, Subscriptions Portfolio Lead will be responsible for governing and leading the execution of large scale cross-functional, strategic, and transformational programs. In this role, you will be a strategic partner to C-suite stakeholders across Dow Jones focused on the company's key priorities by actively managing a portfolio of initiatives that are sponsored by our CMO and CTO and directly aligned to Subscriptions goals.

In partnership with Brand and Platform Managers you will be accountable for identifying and elevating critical decisions, establishing impact and value delivery roadmaps, ensuring execution on priority efforts and communicating change management impacts across people, process and technology. This role will have adherence expectations to SAFe LPM and Execution methodologies and will participate in evolving the execution engagement and outcomes measurement model.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success leading strategic execution of high profile initiatives and be comfortable collaborating with C-Suite level stakeholders and managing complex, virtual teams.

This role will report directly to the Head of Program Management.

Key Responsibilities

  • End-to-End Portfolio Leader: Oversee large-scale Dow Jones Digital initiatives ensuring frictionless coordination across multidisciplinary resources and parallel lines of business. Monitor portfolio progress leveraging Jira metrics, performance and KPIs, and take action as required to manage risk levels, ensure timely delivery and achieve optimal client satisfaction.
  • Strategic Thinking: Proactively address business challenges with the ability to operate Top Down to frame problems and bottoms-up to engage teams on solutioning.
  • Decision Support: Identify critical decisions and communicate in terms of business drivers, problem scope, business values/outcomes and ensuring alignment with client objectives and meeting KPIs.
  • Stakeholder Relationships: Partner closely with leaders across Experience Organization (Product, Operations, Data, Insights, Customer Experience, Design) as well as Dow Jones/News Corp stakeholders (Business leaders, Client Services, Finance, Marketing Strategy, Technology teams) to ensure achievement of business objectives.
  • Change Management: Ensure change management/business readiness strategy is in place as appropriate including impact assessments to people (internal and external clients), process and technology.
  • Financial Oversight & Capacity Management: Have line of sight into portfolio team capacity, velocity and initiative level spend. Ensure required resources are engaged across all functions.
  • Communications: Accountable for establishing initiative level cadences to keep stakeholders informed, develop audience appropriate (ie: C-Suite, Business Leaders, Execution teams) communications on initiative progress, risks, issues, decisions required and scope changes.
  • Transformation: Provide support and input for the SAFe transformation. Demonstrated ability to work in a Continuous Improvement mindset with a lean towards standardization and automation.
  • PMO Advocate: Proactively engage PMO leaders to standardize best practices across B2B and B2C teams.
  • Leadership: May directly manage program manager(s), project manager(s), business analyst(s) providing support through doing and coaching as needed.

Must Have:

  • Minimum of 15+ years of portfolio and/or program management experience leading cross-functional teams in matrix organizations.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of people management.
  • Minimum 5+ years with Agile frameworks, including SAFe/Scrum/Kanban.
  • Excellent communication skills, including presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Experience with Digital products/platforms.
  • Track record of leading and delivering scaled digital programs in an enterprise environment.
  • Ability to manage and communicate in a high-volume and fast paced organization with conflicting and evolving priorities, executing multiple efforts simultaneously while providing a calm demeanor with teams.
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience, MBA preferred.

Nice to Have:

  • 3+ Years in Marketing, Subscriptions Digital Journeys.
  • 2+ years of Digital, Media, Finance or related industry experience is preferred.
  • Relevant SAFe Certifications such as LPM, SP/SPC.
