Summary

The Distribution and Delivery Manager supervises an 6-person team based in New York City providing support to the daily systems, operational, and reporting requirements for the distribution and delivery of the New York Post, The Wall Street Journal and Barrons print publications.

The DDM will manage a team responsible for the daily creation of print center manifest, importing of sales into circulation systems (DTI & Matrix), and the generation of circulation and sales reporting. The DDM will monitor sales reporting to assure established business metrics are being met. The DDM and his team collaborate with multiple business partners both within and outside the company. The DDM is a liaison between DJ and NY Post Technology, Sales, Production, and Customer Service teams.

This role focuses heavily on data gathering, manipulation, and the use of business intelligence tools. The position requires combining business acumen with technical and analytical skills to perform day to day tasks. The position also gives you the opportunity to use critical thinking skills to solve problems and improve business processes.

Responsibilities

The ability to manage day to day operational challenges, effective communication and prioritization of issues with business and IT teams. Support business objectives and provide consistent and accurate reporting to track metrics such as draw, sales, and return % and delivery service levels. Train and develop a team to assure business continuity.

Provide operational and systems support to assist the field managers and their work with delivery contractors to provide high quality service. Work closely with Delivery, IT, Sales, and other business partners both within and outside Dow Jones and The New York Post to meet business objectives.

Qualifications:

Bachelors degree or 5+ years of work experience in newspaper circulation field with direct responsibility for data analysis and management, relational databases, reporting and managing people.

Hands-on experience with strong database querying skills utilizing SQL Server, as well as experience with reporting tools such as Excel, Tableau, and COGNOS. A working knowledge of Newspaper Circulation systems DTI, DSI, and or Matrix is preferred.

Proven ability to navigate in a fast paced data driven environment and effectively problem solve

Project management skills and demonstrated ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.

Effective team leadership and management. The ability to delegate, mentor, and develop and staff.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Experience in strategic planning, process automation and business applications

Demonstrated attention to detail, ability to compile and analyze information, and provide resolutions or recommendations for process improvement.

The DDM position allows for a mix of Work from Home and the NYC office location (post-COVID.)
