We are seeking an outgoing individual to research, develop, design, and test electrical components, equipment, and systems.
Responsibilities:
Design & Development:
Design electrical equipment, components, products, and systems for aerospace and defense purposes per customer requirements and industry standards (i.e., IPC, Military, and DO-160 standards).
Prepare schematics, bills of materials, printed circuit boards, wiring harnesses, and assembly drawings to support active program development and legacy production builds.
Ensure electrical design data packages are organized, released, and updated as necessary.
Design and implement electrical stress tests to ensure product reliability.
Design and implement test fixtures to verify circuit boards' and/or systems' functionality for production testing.
Ensure the electrical design is functional, robust, and cost-effective.
Coordination & Communication:
Work independently while communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and organizations.
Coordinate with other engineering disciplines and departments to ensure overall system form, fit, function, and safety requirements are achieved.
Interact professionally with other employees, customers, and suppliers.
Design and direct engineering personnel in the fabrication of test control apparatus and equipment.
Determine methods, procedures, and conditions for testing products in accordance with system requirements.
Research & Specification:
Research and specify appropriate purchased and preferred components.
Determine power and load requirements/restrictions.
Direct activities to ensure that manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing conform to functional specifications and customer requirements.
Innovate and use good judgment to incorporate company automation standards.
Work with vendors and sourcing to define technical requirements for the product/components.
Quality & Support:
Coordinate with quality assurance to support production and required procedures.
Coordinate with purchasing and manufacturing planners to support obsolescence issues. Perform verification/validation of new sources.
Coordinate and prepare engineering change notices (ECN) per configuration management standards.
Direct and coordinate repair assistance of production and field returns.
Direct and coordinate operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment and systems in field installations.
Technical Skills:
Use computer-assisted engineering software to design and perform engineering tasks.
Strong digital and analog hardware design experience at the product level using: Operational Amplifiers, Instrumentation Amplifiers, Comparators, RTD sensors, SCR, Mosfet, Gate Drivers, DC/DC Converters, LDO Linear Regulator, Opto-Isolators, TVS/Diode/Zener, Capacitors, Inductors, Microcontroller, TTL/CMOS logic, Transformers, Circuit Breakers, Switches, Electromechanical and Solid-State Relays, Thermal Switches, etc.
Willingness to travel on a limited basis.
Qualifications:
Education: BSEE degree (MSEE or higher is a plus) from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience designing analog, digital, and power electronics systems.
Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of analog circuit calculations.
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio), Electronic Simulation Software, Cadence Capture/PCB Designer, Mentor Graphics Viewer (minimum), Gerbers Viewer/Editor Software.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Physical circuit board layout experience (e.g., OrCAD, Mentor, Cadence Allegro, Express PCB) is a plus.
Ability to work closely with other engineers, lab technicians, product management, and customers in a team environment.
