Job Overview: We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Engineer specializing in High Voltage Cable Design to join our team. This role is instrumental in designing and analyzing high-voltage underground cable systems and related components. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading engineering projects, developing technical specifications, and providing support throughout the manufacturing process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design complete cable system solutions, including accessories, link boxes, fiber optic components, grounding details, and bonding schemes for voltage classes from 69kV to 500kV.
- Represent the organization as a subject matter expert in the study of electro-mechanical behavior of HV/EHV cable systems to support installation and in-field applications.
- Prepare and review specifications, proposals, and safety documents in collaboration with Sales & Marketing and Project Management teams.
- Support manufacturing operations by creating testing plans, leading design handover meetings, and addressing production issues.
- Lead research and development projects, including planning, budgeting, and coordination using the “Stage Gate” process.
- Make formal technical presentations to customers and at industry conferences.
- Mentor junior engineers and promote a culture of safety within the workplace.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, including high voltage design.
- Expertise in standards such as ICEA, AEIC, IEC, and IEEE.
- Proficiency in software tools including Cymcap, Comsol Multiphysics, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Matlab, PSCAD, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong technical writing skills and the ability to effectively communicate with customers and internal teams.
- Experience with visual basic and similar programming languages for spreadsheet and macro coding.
