Job Description:
The Senior Groundskeeper position is an essential position, maintaining the campus grounds and landscape to the highest industry standards. This position ensures that assigned areas are safe and attractive; ensures that all work requests are fulfilled in a safe, proper and timely manner, operates a variety of equipment in all weather conditions, oversees grounds maintenance work performed by other college employees or outside vendors. Assist with all aspects of snow and ice operations to ensure a safe campus environment during winter months. Serve as a point person for all related work/campus needs pertaining to assigned area, special project or task assignment and can carry out like items without direct supervision ensuring that all standards and best practices established by Facilities Management are understood and followed. The ability to work with a large number of staff, students, faculty and visitors in a cooperative and team-oriented environment is essential. Additionally, this position provides a high level of in-house expertise in one of several key grounds maintenance areas. This position includes the responsibility to lead one or more staff members on a regular basis; providing oversight and leadership for assigned tasks.
This is a full-time, twelve month position that requires the individual to take direction from the Grounds Supervisor, to consistently take personal initiative and have the ability to direct others. This position is primarily responsible for the stewardship of an assigned area, but is also responsible for many aspects of grounds maintenance across the entire campus.
Note: All Groundskeepers and Grounds Department employees are expected to respond during periods of inclement weather and/or campus emergencies and must be willing to work overtime/flexible work shifts.
Salary: $ 19.54/hour*

Requirements:
A high school diploma/GED certificate, at least 3 years of relevant experience, and the ability to lift 50 lbs. are required. Previous Grounds experience in an academic setting preferred; degree or certification in a related industry preferred. Good communication skills are essential.
Candidates must possess a valid driver's license and insurability at the time of appointment and must maintain such license and insurability throughout the tenure of employment. A background screening is required.
