Job Description:
We are looking for a Sr Mechanical HVAC Design Engineer to join our talented team in New York City. This is an exciting opportunity to work on large-scale, complex projects across a variety of sectors!!Position Overview:As a Sr Mechanical HVAC Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the design and implementation of HVAC systems for new construction and renovation projects. You will work closely with architects, contractors, and project managers to ensure the successful execution of designs that meet both client and regulatory requirements.This role requires an in-depth understanding of HVAC systems, building codes, and engineering principles, with a focus on energy-efficient and sustainable designs.Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the design of HVAC systems, including heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration for various commercial, residential, and institutional buildings.
  • Perform load calculations, ductwork and piping design, system selection, and equipment sizing.
  • Prepare detailed design documents, including specifications, drawings, and calculations.
  • Collaborate with project teams, including architects, structural engineers, and contractors, to integrate HVAC systems seamlessly into building designs.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Conduct site visits and inspections to assess existing systems, monitor installation progress, and ensure quality control.
  • Stay current with industry standards, building codes, and sustainable design practices.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior engineers and technical staff.
  • Review and approve submittals, shop drawings, and project deliverables.
  • Coordinate with clients to understand their needs, present designs, and make adjustments as necessary.
Qualifications:
  • 8+ years of experience in HVAC design, with a proven track record on a variety of projects.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License in Mechanical Engineering (Required).
  • Expertise in HVAC system design, including load calculations, energy modeling, and HVAC equipment selection.
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and/or other industry-specific design software.
  • In-depth knowledge of local building codes, ASHRAE standards, and other relevant guidelines.
  • Experience with sustainable design practices and energy-efficient systems.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (Master's degree preferred).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with large-scale commercial or institutional projects.
  • LEED or other sustainability certifications.
  • Knowledge of building automation systems (BAS) and integration with HVAC.
