Position Summary
The Operations Specialist III position is a key leadership role within the IEAC Team that is charged with overseeing and executing project work regularly. These individuals possess the skills to be considered for this role and have significant experience in a variety programming and computer applications concepts. They are responsible for several projects and oversee the services, scheduling, and execution of multiple $100k+ activities month to month. IE Ops Specialist III interact with other professional disciplines regularly and report back to the IE/Automation Foreman on requests, activities, and potential solutions. They are expected to track workload and document troubleshooting and corrective actions taken to resolve issues. They develop upward communicating reporting summaries for team supervisor review, maintain process control operating systems from both an equipment, instrumentation, and automation perspective. And they engage in daily functions including maintenance and monitoring of SCADA tools to observe trends and analyze device integrity. They are a Major contributor to the success of the regional operations success, and they are consistently more productive than their contemporaries. The position is required to demonstrate an ability to manage a variety of projects that support production optimization and team collaboration.
Technical Knowledge and Skills
* Mastery of I/E Field Technical Skills for Level I and II.
* Master of Comms Field Technical Skills for Level I and II.
* Project Management Leader, Supervisor Contracts and Executes Automation and I/E Initiatives.
* Tracks spending and meets deadlines.
* Mentors on Software Applications - Ability to download and navigate supporting device software and apply software tools to setup, troubleshoot and configure a variety of electronic and measurement device types.
* Mentors on Intermediate Communications understanding/troubleshooting -TCP/IP and RTU RS485 Modbus Network Connectivity, modem configurations, radio configurations, Network settings and IP, gateway, subnet mask understanding and RTU Slave and Master configurations with limited to no supervision.
* Mastery of Instrumentation - Hart Communicators, Configuration, and device Calibration/Scaling. 4-20mA Input/Output, Phone-out and/or ohm out of wiring and device repair/replacement with no supervision.
* Mentors on Electrical - 110VAC and lower, 24-48 VDC, Amperage requirements and Power supply sizing. Understanding of Relay contact controls and wiring diagrams. Ability to troubleshoot wiring schematics for low voltage control panel backplates and power supplies. Identify wire compliance issues to include grounding and drain loop wiring deficiencies and other root cause issues with relay and fuse block performance.
* Competent in Automation understanding to correlate end device configuration and Graphical Interfaces and control narrative cause and effect logic/functions.
* Can consistently identify What a device is, how it is being used, and why it is important to the Facility Process .
Roles and Responsibilities
* Participates in SCADA and Automation Project management and other various development projects that support all teams within the organization under direct supervision.
* Support of all Instrumentation devices, Calibrate/Scale/Verify input/output devices for accuracy thru HMI, PLC, and SCADA Data Flow.
* Support field operations with Preventive Maintenance and oversight of corrective actions to include mentorship and training activities with team members.
* Provide root cause documentation for troubleshooting, and corrective actions taken to resolve issues. Develop upward communicating reporting summaries for team supervisor review.
* Maintain process control operating systems from both an equipment, instrumentation, and automation perspective.
* Daily functions including maintenance and monitoring of SCADA tools to observe trends and analyze device integrity.
* Alter and apply commands and/or support communication equipment to include radios and modems.
* Enhances our team safety culture leading team member and peers to achieve safety excellence in every category i.e., Spill prevention, Hazard IDs, Stop Works/Near Misses, and Contractor Safety Leadership.
* Proficiency in a variety of automation controls and PLC types with a general knowledge of ladder logic, function, and communication blocks, and able to read and interpret base code cause and effect.
Typical Education
High School Diploma or Equivalent Required Associates or Bachelor's degree in related field
preferred.
Typical Experience
Minimum 4+ years of work experience required. Oil and gas industry experience a plus.
