You will be a skilled and trusted pair of hands managing a mixed bag of interesting and complex matters. Your day will be varied and you'll be working across a number of different priorities so you'll need to be a proactive self-starter who is comfortable operating autonomously. As a collegiate, flexible team, we welcome team players with a positive, can-do attitude.Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop and maintain an understanding of Rakuten Advertising's business, product roadmaps, go-to-market strategy
  • Provide strategic commercial and legal advice to the business on a variety of legal and compliance issues.
  • Advise on and draft privacy related documentation (privacy / cookie policies, data sharing agreements etc.).
  • Assist in managing the implementation and ongoing oversight of the Company's privacy policies and privacy strategy
  • Ensure the business is informed and compliant with any relevant existing or proposed legislation that may impact the operations of the business.
  • Provide training to the business teams on contracts and compliance
  • Remain up to date on relevant changes in privacy, contract and adtech related laws and regulations and turn them into sound commercial advice to the company.
  • Design and implement internal policies and process development.
  • Provide legal and strategic guidance on customer facing communications and go to market products
  • Advise on a range of regulations, compliance issues and industry standards with a focus on matters pertaining to adtech
  • Partner with other business functions including sales, marketing, engineering, finance and human resources to maintain legal compliance
  • Identify, research and analyze relevant laws, regulations and industry guidelines
  • Manage disputes
About you
  • Qualified attorney with a minimum of 10+ years of relevant legal experience
  • Strong knowledge of privacy laws including GDPR, CCPA and other US privacy laws, knowledge of other jurisdictions favorably considered.
  • Strong experience in drafting of contracts and policies
  • Experience of commercial contracts negotiation and matters relating specifically to technology, information security and privacy
  • Experience in product counseling
  • Demonstrated ability to handle a number of competing priorities in a fast paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to take ownership and work autonomously
  • Organized, detail oriented, and a team player.
  • Comfortable tackling new and sometimes ambiguous legal matters
  • Confident and collaborative communicator. Ability to guide and influence key stakeholders.
  • Experience working across multiple jurisdictions
  • Knowledge of AI viewed favorably

Individual compensation will vary based on job-related factors, including the skills, qualifications, and experience of the successful candidate as well as business need and geographic location. The successful applicant for this role will be eligible for discretionary bonus, health, vision, dental insurance, 401k matching, PTO, Volunteer Time Off (VTO), and other employee benefits as the company implements.USD $125,064.00 - $233,496.00 annually
