Senior Manager, Accounts Payable & Receivables

Hybrid Role in Commack, NY

Position Overview:

The Senior Manager of AR and AP is responsible for managing the overall finances of the organization through the direct oversight of the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable teams. This position reports to the VP of Accounting and assists in the day-to-day cash operations including cash reporting and cash outflow forecasting. Other responsibilities include the review of the weekly payment suggestion schedule, approval of wire and ach transactions, and review of monthly AP and AR aging schedules. The Senior Manager of AR and AP plays a key role in the continuous review and enhancement of processes and capabilities to improve cash flow as well as the AP and AR functions.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for managing activities and driving process improvements in the AP and AR functions
  • Own AP and AR aging analyses and reconciliations on a weekly and monthly basis
  • Assisting in developing and overseeing daily and monthly cash flow forecasting
  • Responsible for maintaining bank accounts balances on a daily basis
  • Assisting in the administration of bank accounts including the opening, closing, and modifying accounts as needed
  • Responsible for the review of the weekly payment suggestion file and approval of wire and ACH transactions
  • Responsible for responding to audit inquiries in a timely manner
  • Responsible for training, performance management, and career development of the Accounts Receivable Manager, Accounts Payable Analyst, and Senior Accounts Payable Analyst
  • Providing support for special projects and ad hoc analysis

Essential Cross-Functional Responsibilities:

  • Communication this role requires daily and timely communication both internally within the organization, as well as externally with vendors, to resolve vendor discrepancies that have been escalated
  • Development responsible for training staff, ensuring that the AP and AR staff are knowledgeable of all AP and AR policies and procedures, and participating in the year-end performance evaluation process.
  • Collaboration - Strong collaborative skills as role requires cross functional collaboration
  • Understanding of customer chargebacks, dispute, and resolution processes
  • Participate in meetings with executives and upper management to discuss

Required Skills/ Qualifications:

  • Highly analytical, with excellent ability to work with Excel, PowerPoint and other applications
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-starter with ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Commitment to high quality and ability to adhere to tight deadlines
  • Critical thinking, attention to detail, creative problem-solving and project management skills are important for this position
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal), analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multi-task and manage competing deadlines
  • Experience managing a team of professionals in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with large retail customers, such as Amazon, Walmart, Target, and Ulta as well as e-commerce sales, preferred

Education/ Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor s degree in accounting, Finance, or Economics
  • CPA is a plus
  • Minimum of 6-8 years of work experience in finance or accounting field
