Primary Job Function
Senior manufacturing engineer - (Process) will project manage, lead, and support third party manufacturers to deliver robust injection moulding solution. This will include the definition, selection of the right technology, specification, purchase, installation, and qualification of plastic injection moulding, metrology, processing equipment in accordance with internal and external regulatory requirements. Drives tooling and moulding equipment activities at the supplier(s) to ensure that production start-up through to scale up to increased volumes are achieved within requirements.
Required Qualifications
Experience: Minimum 5 years in plastic injection molding, ideally within the medical device or pharmaceutical industry
Education: Bachelor's degree in polymer engineering or a related field preferred, but extensive experience can substitute for formal education
Required Skills:
Project management experience or technical SME role in project teams
Understanding of process development, procurement, and validation
Familiarity with metrology equipment (CMM, conventional methods, CT scan, etc.
Ability to oversee and critique suppliers' validation processes
Oversee project development from process creation through procurement of parts and equipment
Validate processes and provide feedback to suppliers
Ensure regulatory compliance and challenge suppliers when necessary
Medical device or pharma experience is essential due to regulatory complexities
Education
Bachelor's degree (preferably in Polymer Engineering, Polymer science) or a closely related discipline is desired) or equivalent technical experience and demonstrated competence required; additional post-graduate education may contribute toward the desired years of experience.
