We are seeking a talented and experienced Senior Process Engineer with a strong understanding of the engineering lifecycle related to facility design and construction in clean room, laboratories, biotech, pharma, and life sciences industries.
Position summary:
This is a client facing leadership position within the Process Team, responsible for supporting multiple mid to large sized projects. The Lead Process Engineer will mentor less experienced Engineers; Piping Designers; and CAD Designers in the generation of design documents per the DPS Design Deliverables Matrix. Typical design elements include Front End Engineering Design studies (Feasibility through Basis of Design), P&IDs, equipment specification, design coordination through all project phases, process modelling, and reports on specific technical topics required by the project team. The Lead Process Engineer is expected to demonstrate expertise in a variety of process engineering unit operations and biological manufacturing methods, supported by a wealth of design and/or operation experiences. Additional work activities include supporting other DPS offices and Central Operations (i.e. Business Development) in DPS Strategic Initiatives and presenting at relevant industry conferences and publications. The Lead Process Engineer will be mentored by the Department Manager and other Senior Design Staff within the greater DPS Team.
Key responsibilities:
* Strong understanding of chemical engineering principles, engineering lifecycle related to process design.
* Work directly with Junior and mid-level engineers to oversee and manage projects for Biotech Pharmaceutical and other potential clients.
* Must be familiar with HAZOPs and have dealt with hazardous chemicals.
* Experience with API and small molecule design facilities highly preferred.
* Thorough knowledge with P&IDs, PFDs, mass balances, energy balances, and other engineering calculations.
* Knowledge of CIP, SIP, processes utilities/equipment design and specifications is preferred.
* Prepare specifications for equipment and instrumentation including but not limited to commodity washers, depyrogenation tunnels, fillers, Isolator/RABS, CIP skids, CIP/SIP processing, parts washers, formulation tanks/transfer systems, temperature control units and autoclaves.
* Ability to coordinate and interact effectively with other disciplines such as Architecture, Structural, I&C and MEP, etc.
* Identifying deliverables, defining requirements, and creating design documents.
* Develop technical specifications and layouts while working in tandem with project managers, vendors and engineers across multiple disciplines.
Skills & experience required:
* Bachelor of Engineering Degree. Bio/Chemical Engineering preferred
* 12 years minimum of process engineering design experience involving: API, chemical processing, cell culture, upstream and downstream purification, Single Use Technology, and multiple use technology.
* Previous experience working in the Chemical/Biotech/Pharma industry is required.
* Strongly motivated, well organized, and shows professional initiative.

* Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment effectively.
* Ability to work in a fast paced and challenging environment.
* Excellent organization skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
