Sr. Project Manager within our Specialty Welding and Machining business unit.
Your Day-to-Day: - Lead and manage projects primarily during plant outages, with a focus on nuclear system piping repairs, including welding, machining, and related activities.
- Responsible for all project management processes on moderate complexity projects, a portfolio of lower complexity projects, or a high complexity project. Lead medium-sized teams, which may include project controls and sub-project managers.
- Oversee the development of cost estimates and offers for field service projects, particularly in the nuclear power sector. Support and/or drive customer negotiations.
- Complete all aspects of the planning process, including authoring project management plans and developing scope, schedule, and cost baselines as well as risk and stakeholder registers per the Westinghouse Project Management Requirements (WPMR) procedure.
- Ensure proper project closure by archiving work in financial, scheduling, document management, and resource management systems/tools. Perform final project quality assessments and report out. Identify and communicate opportunities for improvement, lessons learned, and risk avoidance for future work.
- Use interpersonal skills to cultivate positive relationships with team members, customers, and other stakeholders (e.g., internal management) in a matrix environment to facilitate successful project completion and identify opportunities for additional business growth.
- Identify, assess, and implement improvement or recovery opportunities that will promote successful project delivery.
Who You Are:As a successful candidate, you will bring the following to the team:
- Bachelor's degree in applicable disciplines: Project Management, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical degree or equivalent non-degreed technical experience in an industrial environment (field service, nuclear, power plant, NDE, oil/gas, construction).
- Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Project Management or Engineering.
- 5 years of project management experience or 2 years of project management/supervisory experience and 3+ years of technical field experience (e.g., field service, nuclear, power plant, NDE, oil/gas, construction industry) may be considered as equivalent.
- 6-10 plus years of applicable Project Management experience preferred.
- Experience leading field-based projects, particularly in nuclear plants, during outages.
- Hands-on field experience with pipe fitting, boilermakers, machinists, welding systems, and nuclear system piping repairs.
- Understanding of the Project Management Institute (PMI)'s Project Management Body of Knowledge required. PMI Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or other approved equivalent project management certification is required.
- Westinghouse Project Manager qualification completed or in process. The successful candidate will be required to complete the APM qualification within a designated time period. Exemptions may be provided based on prior training and work experience.
- Strong interpersonal skills, such as effective verbal and written communication, the ability to lead team members, the ability to develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and the ability to make decisions and carry out multiple tasks as assigned.
- Knowledge and skill in project scheduling and cost management.
- Experience managing highly technical engineering projects in a highly regulated industry.
