Responsibilities:

What you'll be challenged to do:

We are looking for a candidate to join our team who is excited to work on a variety of complex projects with colleagues who enjoy all aspects of design. The Highway Team is currently involved in safety and design alternative analysis, corridor reconstruction projects, interchange and intersection improvements, bridge preservation projects and bridge replacement projects. Our success has been built on teamwork with our colleagues in highway, traffic, bridge, stormwater, and utility design. We strive for innovation and ingenuity in our designs so we can provide the best outcome for all transportation users.

General Duties & Responsibilities

  • Project management for a range of projects small / simple projects to large complex projects
  • Develop corridor models and coordinate design with existing conditions, utilities, etc.
  • Research design alternatives, code requirements and present findings
  • Prepare and review reports, contract drawings, cost estimates and specifications
  • Advocate for, lead, and mentor entry and mid-level engineers
  • Communicate and attend meetings with clients, subconsultants, and other project stakeholders.
  • Engage in business development activities including information gathering, preliminary design and proposal writing
  • Develop accurate engineering designs and plans with quality presentation, while meeting project budgets, schedules, and company standards
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
Qualifications:

What you bring to our firm:

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering
  • At least 10-25 years highway / bridge experience
  • Working knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.)
  • Knowledge and familiarity with highway design principles, including the Green Book, Highway Safety Manual, and Roadside Design Guide
  • PE License
  • Actively engages multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members.

What wed prefer for you to bring to our firm:

  • Experience working with PennDOT and other local transportation agencies
  • Experience with civil design packages such as Microstation OpenRoads, Microstation InRoads, or Microstation Geopak
