This is a great position to continue your professional developmentand showcase your leadership abilities in a highly visible and impactful role.We are seeking a Senior Technical Managerof R&D Engineering to define and drive the next generation of research,development, and maturation of technologies in support of advanced materialsand coatings specifically relevant to aerospace applications. Productapplications include High Temperature and High Wear Resistance Coatings for awide range of product applications including gas turbine engines, hightemperature electrical devices, and hypersonic components.This role is located in Morris Plains,New Jersey. The Senior Technical Manager collaboratesclosely with Director level leadership and maintains a strong network of technicalcontacts at our customers, government agencies, research labs, universities,and Honeywell global engineering centers. Career growth and advancement isenabled by partnering with Product Offering Directors, the Technology Strategy& Innovation organization, Chief Engineers, and Fellows to developtechnology roadmaps, pursuit plans, and partnership opportunities. The Senior TechnicalManager understands the strategic needs of the enterprise, identifies and evaluatesrelevant technologies, and collaborates across multiple locations to delivermature, risk-reduced technologies to the Engineering Center of Excellence onschedule for incorporation into products.Key ResponsibilitiesLead8+ direct reports (4+ with PhD) at the Morris Plains NJ site ininnovation, development, scale up, and manufacturing readiness oftechnologies and products involving advanced materials and coatings.Technologyapplications include gas turbine engine components; high temperature and high wear/corrosion/oxidation resistant coatings; carbon-carbon compositesystems for thermal management; and hypersonic material systems.Annual Budget responsibility ~$5M including technology project portfolio + capital projects + department expense.Business Impact: The selected candidate will get the unique opportunity to expand and mentor a talented, diverse team in maturing cutting-edge technologies that push the boundaries of innovation and advance Breakthrough Initiatives that directly impact business growth in a highly visible role.Drive collaboration across Aerospace and the Honeywell Strategic Business Groups (SBGs), and lead technology development projects to Technology Readiness Level 6 (TRL6) and Manufacturing Readiness Level 6 (MRL6).Perform as the Aerospace representative in support of the: site leader, facilities leader, and safety leader.Must lead and operate in a safety-first manner. Instill this mindset in the team and culture.Supporta multimillion-dollar portfolio of technology development programs thatare funded internally, externally, or through cost-share contracts.Developa robust pursuit pipeline and win external contracts each year valued at $1M+in total effort that are aligned with roadmaps and business strategies.Meetthe Annual Operating Plan (AOP) for engineering revenue, recovery, IR&Dinvestment (“RDE”), capital investment, and schedule milestones.Defineand drive a management operating system that ensures department andproject performance in alignment with internal and external stakeholder requirements.Attract,develop, and retain diverse top talent to enable a high-performinginnovative team using tools including: Management Resource Review (MRR), TechnicalResource Review (TRR), pay-for-performance differentiation based on results and behaviors, bi-annual performance reviews, progression & salaryplanning processes, and acting on Voice Of Employee survey feedback.Responsiblefor managing resource demand & capacity, staffing the departmenteffectively, identifying & leading cross-department initiatives, and defininga Global Strategic FrameworkCollaboratewith the Technology Strategy group, Chief Engineers, Fellows, and BusinessEnterprise teams to develop technology roadmaps with linkage to productroadmaps, strategic plans (STRAP), customer pursuits, and platforminsertion targets.Comprehensionof the technology capabilities and business objectives with the ability tointeract with customers and stakeholders at a senior management leadershiplevel up to Vice PresidentsIdentifyand engage with key strategic partners including academic institutions tobring technologies and talent back to Honeywell.Persuadeinternal and external parties to accept new concepts, practices, and approaches.Mustbe positive and proactive, supportive of company goals and objectives,supportive of other members of the management team, tolerate ambiguity,and effectively work in a fast paced, agile environment.Travelrequired: 10%, mostly US domestic.U.S. PERSON REQUIREMENTS Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. Person, which is defined as, a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status or have the ability to obtain an export authorizationYou Must HaveBachelorof Science in Engineering (or related field) with an emphasis in Materials,Chemistry, Mechanical, or Aerospace.6+years of experience in technology development & application, or new productdevelopment.4+years of experience managing personnel as direct reports.High-temperature and/or ceramic materials experience Proventrack record of technical leadership and project managementAbleto qualify for a US security clearance.Ableto work in a Honeywell office 5 days per week.We ValueAdvanceddegreeAerospaceindustry experience and exposure to standards & regulationsProventrack record of technology or product development and deliveryStronglab operation experience from ideation to scale up to product applicationPriorresponsibility for safety in a lab or manufacturing environmentExperiencewriting and/or coordinating technical proposals and cost estimatesExperiencemanaging across geographic boundaries and time zones.Experience driving collaboration and resource alignment across organizational boundaries, synchronizing with stakeholders to execute Honeywell's strategy, delivering on technology/manufacturing readiness maturation commitments, and influencing cross-functional teams to deliver milestones on schedule and on cost.Strongwritten and verbal communication skills to convey purpose and meaning.Ableto energize people around the organization's vision and drive growth.Buildtrust.
