Job OverviewThe TE Connectivity Industrial Filters Subvertical has an opportunity available for a Sr. R&D Product Development Engineer in our Edison, New Jersey office. The Filters Subvertical provides Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Filters and Power Quality solutions to customers in the Industrial Automation and Electrification market space. TE Connectivity's R&D/Development Engineer is responsible for the new product development of various EMC Filters, sustaining and development of various projects in support of the existing product line, new product extensions, rapid prototyping and custom designs - consistent with manufacturing techniques and economies - using information and input provided by Product Management, Sales, Marketing, Customers, Lifecycle Engineers or other personnel. The ideal candidate will possess and apply considerable knowledge of Product Engineering principles, practices, and procedures, including understanding of manufacturing technologies such as stamping, plating, molding, assembly, andmachine application. The role will involve working with Sales, Product Management, Project Management, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, plant Quality and outside vendors to ensure smooth release and maintenance of parts. The Engineer will also work directly with TE's suppliers in support of New Product Introductions and to help drive resolution of Sustaining Engineering activities. This role will report directly to the Engineer Lead in our Edison, USA location and will be responsible for collaborating with other functions within the Organization, particularly with Sales and Product Management. Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and launch new EMC Filters
- Provide leadership and manage the complete product development life cycle (starting from the voice of the customer, ideation, Design Conceptualization, Creation of product specifications, 3D design, Prototyping, Product testing, Product qualification, Project Execution & Sustenance until product end-of-life)
- Work closely with customer/Sales/PM in getting the right and clear VoC (voice of customer), and make engineering evaluation/proposal to the customer.
- Follow the LEANPD Project Process to support the project team from the Product Development Engineering perspective to complete the Project (NPI or Sustaining) on time, with quality, and within budget. Drive the development and release of products, scale-up through stage-gate reviews, ensuring milestone commitments are maintained.
- Develop and manage product documentation, including product requirements, design documents, and test plans/reports.
- Work with global manufacturing resources, procurement, and outside suppliers to meet all TE technical, quality, and cost objectives.
- Work closely with suppliers to identify and qualify new components and technologies.
- Conduct thorough design verification and validation testing to ensure the product meets the required specifications.
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure a smooth transition to full-scale production.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers and technicians to develop their skills and knowledge.
- Conduct competitive analysis and market research to identify opportunities for innovation and differentiation.
- Build a deep understanding of market and customer needs by fostering a connection between the business engineering teams and the customer engineering teams.
- Maintain a System-level understanding of customer application and the product design/concept necessary for providing a solution to the customers' expectations.
- Technical support to customers, Sales, PM, and plant teams. Conduct necessary tests, engineering analysis, troubleshooting, and verification.
- Introduce breakthrough technologies by partnering technically with our customers worldwide and with our TE Global competency centers to enhance business revenue & growth.
- Apply engineering best practices to reduce cost and sustain existing products to meet customer's cost targets.
What your background should look like: - Bachelor's Degree in technical field (Mechanical Engineering preferred)
- 5+ years' experience in the Electronics Industry & Mechanical Design (EMC Filters experience a plus)
- Strong design/development skills.
- Good conceptual and analytical skills
- Good Knowledge of CAD tools preferably AutoDesk Inventor (or Creo and PDMLink)
- Good Knowledge of LEAN Product Development Cycle and Processes
- Experienced in Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to challenge technical solutions and processes.
- Experienced in electro-mechanical product design
- Depth of knowledge in materials like resins, metal and plating would be a preferred
- Proven ability to transform Voice of Customer into Technical Specifications
- Capable of handling multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to communicate effectively and accurately across multi-cultural groups
- Should be Self-Motivated, Adaptive, Passionate about results and a Good Team Player
- Strong technical aptitude with willingness to learn new technologies quickly
- Demonstrated experience of working in a fast-paced/changing environment with ability to work to tight deadlines
- Knowledge of Global Certifications and Regulatory Standards (UL, IEC, etc.) will be an added advantage
- Fluent Communication and Presentation skills in English
- Willingness to travel as required and at short notice
- Adaptability to changing priorities, strategies, and business conditions.
- Knowledge in Basic Quality techniques and statistical analysis tools
- Experience in working with formal Engineering documentation procedures.

COMPENSATION•Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $113,800-170,600 (subject to change dependent on physical location)•Posted salary ranges are made in good faith.
