Grade: T27The link below will give you information about the University's T salary structure.Learn more about the T salary structure.A variety of important factors are reviewed by HR when considering salary, including job duties, the applicant's education and experience, all relevant internal equity considerations, department budget, and funding source.The Senior Research Manager will serve as a key member of the new Temple Institute of Addiction Research and Medicine (TI-ARM) and foster a strong collaborative relationship with the Center for Substance Abuse Research (CSAR). TI-ARM/CSAR is seeking a uniquely qualified individual to join a vibrant and collegial scientific community. This opportunity is ideal for a candidate who is passionate about neuroscience research with a focus on substance use disorders and enthusiasm for working closely and collaboratively with a diverse group of investigators, clinicians, trainees and research teams. Working closely with the Director of TI-ARM and CSAR, the Research Development Scientist will support the efforts of the Director in enhancing external funding, mentoring trainees, promoting interdisciplinary research by facilitating interactions between basic and clinical teams across Lewis Katz School of Medicine (LKSOM), Temple University Health System (TUHS) and Temple University (TU). This individual will play a key support role to the Director in the growth of TI-ARM, CSAR, and an Addiction Medicine translational research program across these entities.Responsibilities include:* Partner with the TI-ARM/CSAR Director to acquire and maintain knowledge of the research of the TI-ARM and CSAR, of ongoing collaborations, and establishing new research collaborations and scientific direction* Identify funding opportunities for TI-ARM, CSAR, and individual investigators and trainees, as well as potential collaborations within and beyond TI-ARM and CSAR* Provide strategic guidance for targeting and pursuing relevant funding opportunities* Assist Director in the planning, execution, and monitoring of institute- and center-related projects and initiatives* Create and maintain online scientific templates and databases compliant with current sponsor policies to facilitate application submissions* Guide and advise junior faculty, postdoctoral scientists, and students with research, career development, and fellowship award application submissions* Coordinate project timelines, resources, and deliverables, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives* Track project progress, identify potential delays, and communicate updates to the Director and relevant stakeholdersPerforms other duties as assigned.Required Education & Experience:Ph.D. in neuroscience with research experience in substance use disorders or related field and at least five years of experience, specifically in biomedical science project management, research proposal development and grant writing at a higher education institutionRequired Skills & Abilities:* Highly organized, enthusiastic, and collaborative* Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to engage and interact effectively with a diverse constituent population* Ability to organize, analyze, and interpret complex scientific and technical data* Demonstrated exceptional time-management abilities, adept at prioritizing a wide array of diverse responsibilities effectively and efficiently* Demonstrates flexibility in prioritization, strong organizational and multi-tasking skills, strategic planning abilities, and keen attention to detail* Ability to work both independently and as a team member* Demonstrated ability to be adaptable and work a flexible schedule in a fast-paced work environment.* Respond professionally in challenging situations* Demonstrated computer skills, and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite programs.* Dedicated and enthusiastic individual with a keen interest in working closely with the Director and learning all aspects involved in establishing a new institute, enhancing the research and scientific direction of an existing center and building a translational programThis position requires a background check.Temple University is committed to a policy of equal opportunity for all in every aspect of its operations, including employment, service, and educational programs.
