Metra is one of the largest and most complex commuter rail systems in North America, serving Cook, DuPage, Will, Lake, Kane, and McHenry Counties. The agency is linking communities in Northeastern Illinois by providing safe, reliable, and efficient commuter service.
This department oversees the design and construction of Metra capital projects and oversees the work of contractors implementing these projects. Capital projects overseen by this group include stations and parking as well as structural, electrical, and mechanical design.
Reporting to the Director, Project Controls, the Senior Scheduler is responsible for the development, update, and management of the Capital Delivery Master Program Schedule; the development and updating of schedule management processes and procedures; and schedule management training for Metra's Capital Delivery Team.
The primary duties include: Oversee the development, update, and maintenance of Metra's Capital Delivery Master Program Schedule ensuring project data is entered and updated correctly and timely; templates are used properly; and questions are answered.
Oversee the development and maintenance of project schedule templates including all phases of project scope development.
Identify and prioritize training needs, develop training materials, and deliver schedule management training to staff.
Develop and update schedule management processes and procedures ensuring consistency of operations. Manage all aspects of the Schedule Management System within the Project Management Information System (PMIS) ensuring system structure is compatible and integrates with other Project Controls functions and systems.
Responsible for verifying compliance with the established work breakdown structure of project tasks. Promote safe work practices and maintain and foster a safe work environment.

Requirements
1. Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field or in lieu of a specified degree, any combination of education and experience that equals four (4) years in schedule creation and management.
2. In addition to #1 above, must have a minimum of seven years of schedule creation and management experience, preferably in an infrastructure related field.
3. Considerable knowledge of:
* schedule management software to include Oracle Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project.
* Critical Path Methodology scheduling.
4. Knowledge of schedule cost-loading and Earned Value Management.
5. Good organizational, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
6. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
7. Skilled in integrating schedule and cost data.
8. Proficient in in Oracle Primavera P6 and Microsoft 365.
9. Ability to:
* create a program-level project schedule by working with project managers, discipline subject matter experts, and contractor schedules.
* complete assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
* work well with others and conduct training consisting of multi-disciplinary members.
10. Must:
* possess and maintain a valid driver's license and be willing to travel within and outside of Metra's 6-county region
* be available to work flexible hours in the early morning, late afternoon, evenings, or weekends.

* Project Management Professional
