Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Scientist to join our in vivo pharmacology team with a focus on oncology. The ideal candidate is an expert lab-based in vivo pharmacologist with a background in biologics drug discovery. Responsibilities include designing and executing studies to evaluate novel ADC based oncology therapeutics related to pre-clinical drug discovery and development. You will perform in vivo experiments and analyses that establish key efficacy, safety, pharmacokinetic, and pharmacodynamic parameters. Hands on experience and knowledge of mouse oncology models and cancer biology are required. Experience with antibody drug candidate evaluation, PK, PD and non-GLP tox is preferred. The candidate will be dedicated to working with project teams to design, plan and execute in vivo strategy to ensure effective decision-making. The individual will be capable of presenting findings to key stakeholders. You will also contribute to Firefly's strategy, processes, and positively influence the company culture. Title and compensation will be commensurate with experience.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Identify, design and conduct in vivo studies in tumor models (CDX/PDX/GEMM) that support preclinical drug discovery including efficacy, PK/PD relationship, mechanism of action studies, combination studies, biomarkers and disease modeling
  • Drive pre-clinical model development, characterization and reproducibility with appropriate standard of care controls.
  • Interface with cross-functional project team members, and participate in and present at project team and cross-departmental meetings
  • Assist in managing internal in vivo pharmacology capabilities at a shared vivarium space, including hands on execution.
  • Adhere to proper animal handling and ethical standards, ensuring all procedures are performed according to established guidelines.
  • Effectively manage study timeline and coordinate study logistics with cross functional program teams.

Qualifications & Prior Experience:

  • PhD in Oncology, Biology, Pharmacology or related discipline
  • >5 years of research experience in an industry setting
  • Expertise with mouse models of human cancers
  • Highly skilled and proficient with in vivo pharmacology techniques including dosing (IV, PO, subcutaneous, IP), subcutaneous tumor implantation and caliper measurements, animal identification and randomization, in life and terminal blood collection, tissue collection during necropsy and processing for ex vivo analysis
  • Lead/mentor junior scientists
  • Perform timely data verification and ensure accuracy for laboratory notebooks, protocols, reports, and regulatory filings
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, along with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Computer literacy, especially proficiency with GraphPad Prism, Excel, PowerPoint and Word
  • Ability to work in a laboratory environment approximately 75% of the time, including some weekend hours as needed to ensure study integrity
  • Contribution to the design and execution of IND-enabling in vivo studies preferred
  • Highly motivated and ability to be flexible in case of changing priorities.
