We are looking for a Full Stack, Senior Software Engineer to join UnitedMasters! Please note that this is a Hybrid role: two days in office and three days remote. What You'll Do As a Senior Software Engineer, Full Stack at UnitedMasters, you'll leverage your expertise in both front-end and back-end technologies to work on all aspects of our software applications. You'll be adept in client-side languages like React and NextJS. Your experience with databases and APIs will enable you to build, maintain, and optimize our applications from start to finish. In this role, you will:
- Collaborate with product management and engineering teams to build, and improve UnitedMasters' current and future products.
- Take ownership of major projects that drive key company goals.
- Develop intuitive, user-friendly products by deeply understanding the core user needs and problems to solve.
- Break down complex product asks into manageable engineering milestones, with a focus on rapid iteration and experimentation.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Technical Proficiency: Strong expertise in both front-end (e.g. NextJS) and back-end (e.g. Python) technologies, with experience in databases (e.g., MongoDB, PostgreSQL) and familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure).
- Backend Skills: Expertise in concepts like web services, SOA, RPC (GraphQL, REST, gRPC, Thrift), and API design.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to design and implement efficient solutions for complex problems, with a strong understanding of algorithms, data structures, and system architecture.
- Versatility and Adaptability: Comfortable working across the entire tech stack, from UI/UX design to server-side logic, and quickly learning new technologies as needed.
- Collaboration and Communication: Excellent communication skills, able to work well with cross-functional teams, including designers, product managers, and other engineers. Capable of explaining complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Attention to Detail: Writes clean, maintainable, and well-documented code, with a focus on best practices, testing, and scalability.
- Bias for Action: Demonstrates a proactive approach, taking initiative to push projects forward, solve issues, and improve processes without waiting for explicit direction.
- Complexity: Ability to take ambiguous requirements in complex domains and distill them down into actionable tasks.
- Detective: Experience diagnosing root causes of and contributing to the resolution of production outages.
Minimum Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience building scalable full stack web apps with Python, Node, or similar technologiese.g., Ruby, Go, C, or Java.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, related field or equivalent related professional experience
- The ideal candidate should have a proven track record of successfully delivering full-stack projects from concept to deployment, demonstrating their ability to build, launch, and maintain end-to-end solutions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Python web frameworks such as Flask & Django and front-end systems like NextJS.
- Experience designing and building web applications.
- Intellectually curious about new Web and Backend frameworks.

Salary Hiring Range: $180,000 - $220,000 Our salary ranges are based on paying competitively for our size and industry, and are one part of many compensation, benefits and other reward opportunities we provide (e.g. bonus, stock options, 401(k) match, etc.) Individual pay rate decisions are based on a number of factors, including qualifications for the role, experience level, skillset, and balancing internal equity relative to peers at the company. We expect the majority of the candidates who are offered roles at our company to fall healthily throughout the range based on these factors.
