We are looking for a Senior Staff Accountant for our Accounting team.This is a hybrid role that requires a regularly scheduled commute/travel to our main office in Lake Success, NY and/or the FreedomCare hub closest to you.Position Overview:The Senior Staff Accountant will act as both an individual contributor and reviewer for specific aspects of the month-end close process, ensuring accuracy and compliance in financial reporting. Working closely with the Staff Accountant, the Senior Accountant will collaborate to streamline closing procedures and enhance overall efficiency within the finance team. The Sr. Staff Accountant will possess a thorough understanding of accounting principles, particularly within a multi-entity environment, and will be instrumental in leading various components of ERP closes within Sage Intacct. This role demands proficiency in overseeing the preparation of comprehensive workpapers, managing daily and weekly soft closes, and ensuring accuracy and compliance throughout the month-end close process. The Sr. Staff Accountant should demonstrate a strong grasp of GAAP accounting principles, technical acumen in navigating multiple accounting platforms, and the ability to approach challenges with resourcefulness and critical thinking. Responsibilities:Multi-Entity ERP Closes:
    • Lead the multi-entity ERP close process using Sage Intacct, ensuring accurate capture and reporting of financial data
    • Oversee adherence to established timelines and protocols, collaborating seamlessly with various teams to guarantee precise data consolidation and reporting
Workpaper Preparation:
    • Lead the preparation and meticulous organization of detailed workpapers that support the financial close process
    • Ensure that all supporting documentation is accurate, current, and readily accessible for audits and internal reviews
Soft Close Facilitation:
    • Oversee daily and weekly soft closes, ensuring all accounts are precisely balanced in preparation for the month-end close
    • Proactively identify and resolve discrepancies, escalating issues as necessary to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
    • GAAP Accounting Application:
      • Apply and oversee the comprehensive understanding of GAAP accounting principles throughout the month-end close process, ensuring that financial statements are prepared in full compliance with accepted standards
    • Provide robust leadership to the team during internal reviews and audits, offering clear explanations and justifications for accounting treatments
Technical Management and Platform Navigation:
    • Leverage strong technical skills to adeptly navigate and manage multiple accounting platforms and systems, i.e., accounts payable, accounts receivable, spend management, and financial reporting software
    • Actively contribute to the optimization of accounting processes through the effective use of technology, supporting continuous improvement initiatives
Collaboration with AP and Spend Management Teams:
    • Work closely with and lead the Accounts Payable (AP) and Spend Management (T&E) teams to ensure accurate transaction categorization and strict adherence to established policies and procedures
    • Lead efforts in ensuring compliance with internal controls, enhancing the accuracy and reliability of financial data
Comprehensive Reconciliation Responsibilities:
    • Lead the execution of reconciliations for key financial accounts, including balance sheet accounts, general ledger, prepaids, fixed assets, accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), payroll, caregiver payroll, journal entries, and more
    • Ensure that all reconciliations are completed with precision and timeliness, contributing to a transparent and accurate representation of the company's financial position
Compliance and Regulatory Preparation:
    • Support and lead the preparation and execution of compliance-related activities, including cost reporting, 1099 filings, business property tax submissions, and other regulatory requirements
    • Ensure that all compliance efforts are rigorously conducted in accordance with applicable laws and regulations, and that all deadlines are consistently met without exception
Ideal Candidates Will Possess:
  • Requires at least 4-7 years or more of experience
  • Must have experience working in a multi-entity environment is a plus
  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Hands-on experience with Sage Intacct for preparing financial transactions and reconciliations is required
  • Strong understanding of GAAP accounting principles and their application in financial reporting
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage complex accounting tasks and consistently meet deadlines
  • Technical proficiency with accounting software and ERP systems, particularly Sage Intacct
  • Must possess intermediate to advanced Excel skills, including proficiency in data analysis, complex formulas, and pivot tables to support accurate financial reporting and enhance decision-making capabilities
  • Exceptional analytical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to continuous improvement

This provides our employees with the opportunity to professionally grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $82,500 and $92,500 per year at the commencement of your first year of employment. Compensation decisions are dependent upon a variety of factors which may include, but are not limited to: skill set, years of relevant experience, education, location, and licensure/certifications.Salary Range$82,500-$92,500 USD
