Job Description Sr. Technical Service Manager - Rubber & Adhesives Solutions - ( 21000170 ) **Description**

***General Description:***

The Technical Service Manager enforces the refinement and exectution of strategic initiatives improving SI Groups market position.

The Technical Service Manager interfaces with the customers in promoting existing products, identifying (unmet) needs, and translating the needs into concepts for new products, then supporting their development through the SI Group innovation processes.

**Promotion / Technical Marketing**

* Own the delivery of technical and scientific marketing & product support to Channels / Customers to generate additional business

* Take ownership of segment specific technology/technical information and literature including TDS

* Direct and write technical marketing materials for product promotion

* Develop and deliver training seminars for sales channel partners, customers, and events / tradeshows.

* Attend Industry Conferences and forums as required, representing and promoting products and capabilities.

* Act selectively as the customers SI Group technical liaison partner and contribute to development and maintenance of business relationships

* Train and extend working knowledge to collaborators and sales channel partners.

**Innovation**

* As part of the global cross functional team, identify, qualify and quantify (unmet) technical needs and support the development of quantified value propositions for the existing and new products

* Convert unmet needs findings into innovation proposals by providing technical objectives, test methods and by supporting R&D in developing test programs

* Lead innovation projects by assignment and liaise with leadership with frequent review of project status

* Contribute to technical/technology meetings and forums as required.

**Technical Services Activities**

* Ensure knowledge generation and sharing to strengthen market understanding, recognition and value generation

* Initiate systematic test program of our main products versus competition and calculate value in use differences

* Identify the portfolio gaps and define the portfolio roadmap for the segment based on the segment strategy

* Establish application testing priorities and coordinate execution with interal and/or external service providers

* Set proiorities and build business cases, as needed, for establishing or acquiring application development capabilities

* Maintain safe working environment in the laboratory. Contributes to improving safety by participating in, for example safety meetings, audits and behavioral based safety program.

**Qualifications**

**Education and Experience:**

* BS in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering

* Min. 10 years experience in technical support and business development or R&D in Rubber and / or Adhesives

* Strong analytical reporting, presentation, and communication skills

* Ability to work effectively in an international team environment

**Position Specific Competency requirements:**

* Passion for building a business through identifying and meeting customers techical needs

* In depth technical knowledge of downstream applications and ability to define and communicate the effectiveness of our products on performance properties

* Business acumen and customer experience

* Ability to translate customer/market needs into key parameters for, application testing, R&D programs and technical specifications

* Experience to develop qualified and quantified customer value propostions

* Effective communication with internal and external stakeholders in a global context

* Accomplished at developing working relationships with customer and key suppliers technical staff to facilitate commercial developments

* Dealing with ambiguity

* Proactively promotes a healthy and safe work environment in the laboratory.
