- Oversee and conduct wetland and waterway delineations
- Advanced understanding of scientific principles and understanding of various implementation techniques as related to area of focus.
- Prepare and coordinate Section 404/401 permit applications
- Manage data collection and analysis processes.
- Monitor the maintenance and care of field data, specimens, and samples.
- Organize and lead field work.
- Develop report conclusions. Manage all aspects of deliverables. Edit reports and give feedback to person who wrote it. Submit reports and follow up with clients or reviewing agencies. In depth understanding of the Project needs to ensure reports meet the needs of the client and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure the team is following company and safety standards in the field.
- Takes a lead role in coordinating with multi-discipline teams.
- Proficient in communicating technical concepts, both verbally and in written form.
- Actively seeks the latest technologies; applies scientific principles for creative solutions for clients.

Project Management
- Develop project scope of work, monitor scope creep, and price additional services for review/approval by client. In depth understanding of the Project needs to ensure scope of work meets the needs of the client and regulatory requirements. Communicates scope and schedule changes to clients.
- Maintain project schedules, provide updates, and interim reports. Manage and supervise subcontractors. Leads project kick-off meetings.
- Ensure project deliverables for the team are completed at the expected quality and within budget and schedule.
- Prepare status updates on projects via reports/emails and communicate to leadership and internal clients.
Business Development
- Leverages professional network to engage with industry professionals on thought leadership.
- Develop detailed proposals and cost estimates in support of the bidding process, working collaboratively with others. Advanced knowledge of Copperhead's past performance and ability to draft relevant company qualifications in a strategic fashion. Ability to provide solutions and advice to clients for complex projects that require in depth technical and consulting knowledge.
- Responsible for developing new client business.
Leadership/Management/Codes of Conduct
- Oversee Scientists and Technicians and conduct performance assessments.
- Assist with invoicing and Responsible for Project Set up in Ajera. Time sheet approval.
- Leads initiatives designed to increase efficiency, improve operations, decrease turnaround times, and provide a high quality of customer service.
- Demonstrates a desire for lifelong learning. Trains newly hired staff and assists with the development of staff through day-to-day interactions. Participates in formal mentorship programs.
Financial Acumen
- Monitors timekeeping and invoice schedule, assist accounting dept. with collection of delinquent accounts as necessary, and follow up with subcontractors when needed.
- Assists management with monitoring project profitability.
- Preparation of budgets and responsible for tracking budget.
Client Service
- Build relationship capital with clients through project work and networking events.
RequirementsEducational and Other RequirementsYears of Experience
- 12+ years - At least 8 years of progressive experience in aquatic and wetland sciences and at least 5 years of progressive project management experience preferred
- Experience applying environmental compliance and permitting regulations
- Experience managing wetland and waterway delineations
- Experience preparing technical reports
Licensure/Certification
Degree
- Master's degree in environmental science, biology, ecology, botany, or related field.
- Candidates who hold or are eligible for the Professional Wetland Scientist (PWS) certification will be given top consideration.
- Candidates who hold or are eligible for the Qualified Hydrologic Professional (QHP) for Tennessee certification will be given top consideration.
Software Capability
- Proficiency with software such as Microsoft Suite, Google Earth, Adobe, and Ajera.
