- The purpose of this position is to operate, or support the operation of, production equipment and perform processes related to manufacturing flexible pipe.
- SSE Operators participate in a structured on-the-job training program to develop basic skills through the completion of competency modules and hands-on training.
- At the successful completion of the SSE training program and upon satisfactory completion of other performance criteria, SSE Operators are able to progress to the Specific Skills training where competency modules focus on expertise in a variety of work centers, quality control, and Visual Management skills. Through the successful completion of competency modules and hands-on training FlexSteel provides an opportunity for growth as a subject matter expert in a specific work center or leadership.

- Reports directly to the Shift Team Lead and assists the Lead Operator in set up and operation of the assigned production equipment/machine.
- Under the guidance of the Lead Operator, Work Center Leader, and/or the Shift Team Lead the SSE Operator operates assigned equipment/machinery for the purpose of producing production, test, or experimental pipe.
- Inspects work in progress, as well as the overall finished product to ensure compliance with Company Quality standards.
- Maintains work center cleanliness, including material storage areas, in accordance with facility operating policies and Visual Work Instructions.
- Completes required documentation records, as required, in accordance with procedures.
- Able to explain the definition of pipe identification number.
- Demonstrate full understanding of the Pipe Map.
- Complete SSE Basic Skills Module I Part 1 and Basic Skills Module I Part 2 within the assigned period 90-day period unless approved by management.
- Assists Lead Operator in analyzing and resolving line operations problems.
- When applicable, loads material into machine for production runs, including maintaining material traceability.
- Assists Work Center Leader, Lead Operator, and Shift Team Lead for the purpose of coordinating activities associated with the work center.
- Assists in all work areas in accordance with the Standard Work Instructions, Policies, and Procedures, as directed by the Shift Team Lead.
- SSE Operators must complete training for and obtain Forklift Operator Certification and Crane Operator Certification.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Must be 18 years of age or older to apply.
- High School Diploma or GED
- Candidates must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- At least one (1) year of relevant experience in a forward-thinking manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Knowledge of mechanics, metal forming, and/or extrusion equipment and processes is preferred.
- Candidate must be able to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Candidate must be able to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
- Candidates must be able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
- Candidates must be able to solve practical problems and deal with situations where only limited standardization exists.

- Candidates will work typically eight (8) to twelve (12) hour shifts as dictated by production requirements.
- Shifts rotate between day and night, typically on two-week or monthly rotation, or between first, second, and third shift.

- The employee is occasionally required to walk; reach with hands and arms; climb and stoop, kneel, and/or crouch.
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and depth perception.
- Confirmed Visual Acuity is a requirement for Quality inspection.
