We are searching for an engaging, passionate, Staff Accountant-Grants to help lead our College during this ever-changing Community College environment.Target start date: 1/6/2025 Employment Type: Non-Exempt Hourly Pay Rate: 21.00 - 26.00Primary Site Location: Beeville Open Until Filled/Position will close on (date)Essential Functions:The Staff Accountant will provide exceptional customer service to students, staff, faculty, and the public; performs routine technical accounting work; work involves performing detailed assignments in recording, classifying, examining, and verifying financial records, documents and/or reports. The Staff Accountant will establish and maintain procedures and controls and will conduct internal control audits routinely. Duties and Responsibilities: Assists with the financial aspects of grant proposals, contracts, subcontracts, agreements, budgets, documentation, interpretation of funding requirements, and submission of grant proposals to external funding agencies on behalf of the Institution. Apprises grants managers of deadlines affecting grants. Reviews all grant purchases for compliance with College policies and procedures as well as State and Federal purchasing requirements. Conducts monthly reviews of grant reconciliations prepared by Grant Managers to identify and resolve any irregularities. Draws down grant funds each month ad posts corresponding journal entries. Assists in the preparation of trial balances for reporting purposes. Assists the Grant Manager with closeout of grant projects. Reviews all grant reports prior to submission. Conducts internal reviews of grant funded scholarships three times per year. Facilitates training workshops for grant managers. Participates in internal and external audits. Performs other duties as assigned. Other Duties: Will participate in Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) and in compliance with SACSCOC. Will participate in College responsibilities such as Institutional Effectiveness Committee, Task Force, etc. Travel Requirements: Travel may be required to other sites as needed. Environment: Responsibilities are generally performed in an office setting with frequent interruptions and changes in the workflow/volume. Minimum qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Accounting. A working knowledge of basic computer skills and the ability to operate standard office equipment. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite. Familiarity with accounting principles and knowledge of accepted accounting principles. Knowledge of the procedures affecting the maintenance of accounting records and automated accounting systems. Ability to make arithmetical computations and to prepare financial and accounting reports. Preferred qualifications:EducationDegree Equals Bachelor'sDetails Equals Three years of accounting experience. Experience working in higher education and/or for a nonprofit.
