Goodwill Industries of Kentucky is looking for an energetic, self-motivated, detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team! The Staff Accountant will assist the Manager of Accounting in maintaining and reconciling general ledger accounts, preparing adjusting journal entries, facilitating accounting operations and reporting, and performing reconciliations to validate account activity and balances. Job Type: Full-time, Exempt Essential Duties and Tasks: Assist the Manager of Accounting in maintaining general ledger accounts and performing end-of-month close activities to ensure conformity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and to support Goodwill's internal reporting objectives. Maintain the Fixed Assets subledger, including processing additions and reviewing classification of monthly activity and recording entries for depreciation, asset disposals, and other necessary adjustments. Reconcile the subledger to the general ledger through roll forwards of monthly balances. Produce capital project accounting reports. Maintain appropriate classification and allocation of utility costs by site by entering invoice data into utility database, reconciling with utility payments, and posting necessary entries. Assist with basic accounting operations such as gift card ordering, processing deposits, invoice preparation, and other accounting operations as assigned. Support and facilitate the annual external financial statement audit and other internal or external reviews as necessary. Perform other duties as assigned. Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in accounting, or related field with demonstrated accounting certification or specialization, required. Must have previous experience in a staff accounting position, two (2) plus years is preferred. Relevant experience working within accounting systems (Sage Intacct) is a plus, along with any relevant not-for-profit industry accounting experience. Must possess and demonstrate strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills to effectively provide solutions. Must possess and demonstrate the ability to plan, organize, and manage work responsibilities with minimal supervision to meet monthly deadlines. Physical Demands: This job may have physical requirements that is considered light work. Physical demand requirements are more than those for sedentary work. Sedentary work involves sitting for long periods of time; occasional bending, squatting, kneeling, stooping; good finger dexterity and feeling; frequent repetitive motions; talking, hearing, and visual acuity. Light work includes lifting up to 20lbs occasionally and/or up to 10lbs frequently. Travel to other locations beyond the assigned work location is occasionally required.
