Consumers love Spiceology's creative blends, recipe inspirations and innovations in flavor.The Staff Accountant plays a critical role in the day-to-day accounting functions primarily focused on revenue recognition, rebates, monthly/annual close activities, account reconciliations, internal control testing, customer dispute resolution, and special projects in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. Salary Range: $55,000 - $60,000 based on qualifications and experience
Key Responsibilities - Maintain primary responsibility over key AR accounts including payment portal management, collections, payment application, and trade spend/rebates accounting/reconciliation
- Responsible for accurate revenue recognition across all sales channels
- Research and resolve customer payment application discrepancies and deductions
- Point of escalation for all AR issues, disputes, and discrepancies
- Prepare monthly customer rebate analyses for Foodservice and Wholesale accounts
- Support month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, accounting reconciliations, and related analysis
- Support audits and lending examinations with data gathering and analysis
- Maintain accurate and complete accounting records including robust documentation
- Support special projects as needed within the department and cross-functionally
- Assist with the preparation of compliance documentation (Insurance census audits, 401K audits, State and Local taxes, etc.)
- Perform testing of internal controls to support ongoing monitoring
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support key accounting and business initiatives
- Reports directly to the Controller
Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field (recent graduates encouraged to apply)
- Strong understanding of all basic accounting principles in accordance with USGAAP
- High proficiency with Microsoft Excel
- Proficiency and prior experience with ERP software (NetSuite specifically preferred)
- Ability to work independently and manage workload and deadlines accordingly
- Strong attention to detail and motivated self-starter
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Eagerness to learn and take on new challenges based on the needs of the team and business
Preferred Qualifications - CPA certification or progress toward CPA licensure a plus
- Previous public accounting experience a plus
