Our goal is to provide affordable home financing for our customers, utilizing the best terms available while providing a level of professionalism and service unsurpassed in the lending industry.Position SummaryThe Staff Accountant plays an important role in the organization by performing a number of activities related to the company's Accounting functions. The role is primarily responsible, under general supervision, for performing all branch accounting processes and P & L tasks assigned; as well as, assisting with calculating monthly incentive compensation and bonus payments for assigned regions.Essential Functions
  • Process recurring and one-time monthly close tasks such as journal entries, adjustments, reporting, account reconciliations and other basic accounting tasks for branches and corporate departments.
  • Analyze variances for monthly P&L's for branches at assigned regions.
  • Research and respond to branch managers' inquiries for assigned regions.
  • Train branch managers and other branch employees on the Loan Vision Branch Portal.
  • Prepare Monthly Regional Override and Bonus Memos.
  • Review Monthly Branch Manager and Sales Manager Override Bonus Memos.
  • Assist with all aspects of compensation as it relates to assigned regions for branch/district/regional managers, including: calculation, research, interpreting contracts, communication, accounting, and reconciliation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.Qualifications
  • Associate Degree in Accounting or Finance, along with at least 5 years of relevant accounting experience required; Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance with at least 2 years of relevant accounting experience preferred.
  • Thorough understanding of accounting including but not limited to: prepaid, accruals, income statement accounts, balance sheet accounts, intercompany accounts, consolidation, reconciliations and general ledger.
  • Preferred experience includes mortgage industry experience, sales compensation experience, Loan Vision software, advanced MS Excel including pivot tables and V-Lookups. Ability to read and interpret compensation contracts.
  • Possess attention to detail; as well as, a quick learner who can adapt to a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to interact effectively with all levels of staff and management.
  • Time management, organization, analytical and multi-tasking skills required, with the ability to handle tight deadlines.
  • Excellent research and problem-solving skills and ability to propose solutions to problems.
  • High level of integrity and ethical behavior.Supervision
