The program combines a powerful savings incentive with service delivery to support residents in reaching their goals. It is the nation's largest asset-building program for families with low incomes.Since 2010, Compass has partnered with public housing agencies and other affordable housing providers to operate an asset-building model for the FSS program - the first nonprofit organization in the country to do so.About the JobWe are looking for mission-driven, results-oriented, and collaborative individuals to join our growing team. The Staff Accountant is responsible for a number of integral functions of the organization's Finance department. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail to maintain the highest levels of accuracy and completeness in their responsibilities.   • Process accounts payable and cash disbursement functions, including creating and depositing manual checks when necessary. Monitor aging payables.
  • Process receivables, including issuing invoices to Compass' partner organizations, monitoring outstanding payments and reporting on A/R aging.
  • Maintain vendor files and acts as the primary liaison to vendors.
  • Compile VISA credit card statements and process employee reimbursements via Bill.com.
  • Monitor and maintain dedicated email account for communication related to accounting and finance.
  • Reconcile semi-monthly and bi-weekly payrolls.
  • Prepare month-end reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Assist with preparing and assembling information for external auditors for annual audit and Form 990 filing.
  • Compile and submit 1099's to IRS and MA DOR.
  • Maintain orderly filing systems for electronic and paper documents.Financial Support and Analysis
  • Perform full-cycle accounting and month-end close.
  • Support tracking of expenses against restricted grants to enable the accurate release of restricted funds.
  • Assist with annual organizational budget planning and cash flow projection.
  • Support development and refinement of Compass financial systems.Qualifications and Skills:
  • Non-profit experience preferred.
  • One to two years of prior experience in accounting.
  • Experience with accounting software (QuickBooks online preferred).
  • Strong skills with Excel.
  • Capacity to work with precision and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High level of professionalism handling confidential or sensitive information.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to learn quickly, work independently, and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to pitch in however needed to support the organization.
  • Demonstrated interest in serving low-income families.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce and Bill.com.

    • The salary range for this role is $55,590 - $64,839, commensurate with experience. We'll promote your professional growth and development by providing access to a competitive salary and benefits package and additional employee benefits that include but are not limited to:
