Job Description:
The Staff Accountant shall provide support to the accounting department through the execution of day-to-day accounting procedures. This role carries the responsibility of executing the aforementioned duties in a proficient and effective manner. Assist in the daily accounting functions, encompassing but not limited to the monthly/quarterly/yearly reconciliation of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, General Ledger accounts, and overall month-end closure, including, but not limited to the following: Receipt, coding, and recording of all incoming invoices Execution of daily billing for contracts and SOW Handling of daily cash transactions, Aging A/P and Aging A/R reporting to the Controller for discussion and resolution Engagement in credit and collections activities Management of debit & credit memos Processing of sales order/receipts Management of customers & vendors Assistance in the oversight of T&E system and reporting of such transactions. Execution of internal audits as necessary to ensure internal controls. Investigation, tracking, and resolution of various accounting discrepancies. Support in the annual audit, including year-end schedules. Assistance in the preparation of federal, state, and sales tax and regulatory filings. Contribution to team efforts by supporting commercial & marketing staff, when required ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES Participation in meetings and training sessions to convey necessary information for job performance. Utilization of diverse technical skills, including Microsoft Suite, to enhance task completion and streamline processes. Keeping abreast of ERP system and other software updates. Maintaining knowledge of GAAP accounting and higher education accounting concepts and regulations. REQUIREMENTS & SKILLS Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting and at least two years of related experience in a business office setting performing accounting duties or a commensurate combination of education and experience. Familiarity with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), professional service accounting, and financial reporting. Experience in the Software/SaaS industry is highly advantageous. Prior experience in Accounts Payable / Accounts Receivable. Prior experience with QuickBooks Online and Oracle, along with intermediate MS Excel proficiency, is mandatory. Previous exposure to the integration of ERP accounting systems is preferred. Exceptional organizational and listening skills, coupled with meticulous attention to detail. Ability to execute detail-oriented work, manage multiple competing priorities, proactively solve problems, think critically, and work autonomously.
