Job SummaryThe Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for general ledger reconciliation, budgeting and account analysis while providing accounting support and financial analysis.Job Responsibilities
- Prepare financial statements in accordance with GAAP and GAAS and in compliance with county hospital legal and regulatory requirements.
- Generate monthly financial statements for hospital and/or physician practices and prepare monthly journal entries and accruals for assigned areas.
- Develop and present proformas and financial reports that provide accurate insights based on known, assumed, and projected information for improving financial performance and/or new business development.
- Assist managers in the preparation of their departmental budget requests and assist CFO in reviewing and analyzing those reports.
- Compile approved departmental budget and direct preparation of budget accountability reports to assist managers in cost control.
- Develop and maintain amortization schedules for debt instruments, notes receivable and other miscellaneous contracts and agreements.
- Develop and maintain prepaid expense schedules
- Update and maintain fixed assets and construction in progress schedules.
- Ensure all general ledger balance sheet account reconciliations related to fixed assets and construction in progress are accurate and completed in a timely manner. Prepare financial statements for other related entities and reconcile bank accounts.
- Analyze accounts and act as liaison with Auditors. Prepare documentation for related entities for CMS, ISDH and other agencies.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial surveys, and investment reports.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education Requirements
- Minimum: BS in Accounting, Finance, or other Business area with concentration in Accounting
Experience Requirements
- Minimum: Three (3) years experience in General Ledger and Budgeting
- Preferred: Three (3) or more years experience in Healthcare Accounting/Finance including GL, Budgeting and Analysis
