Once a plan is approved, the incumbent will apply the new trip counts and/or running times to create a new vehicle schedule and, subsequently, a crew schedule (Bus Operator work assignments). The incumbent will then blend the old and new schedules for each day type (Weekday, Saturday, and Sunday), create a roster (including days off and work runs/regular day off relief runs), and produce proposed pick documents for the Union to examine. The final pick documents, incorporating any reasonable requests from the Union such as regular day off swaps between runs, will then be distributed so the Bus Operators may pick their assignments for the next several months. This position also requires occasional field work at various times of the day, including weekends and overnight; attending meetings with the Union and other concerned parties; and preparing reports as needed. College education may be substituted for professional experience at the rate of 30 semester credits from an accredited college or university for one year of experience. However, all candidates must have a high school diploma.The high school diploma or its educational equivalent must be approved by a State's Department of Education or a recognized accrediting organization. The college or university must be accredited by regional, national, professional, or specialized agencies recognized as accrediting bodies by the U.S. Secretary of Education and by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). The law school must be accredited by the American Bar Association or the California Bar Association Desired Skills:Excellent presentation, communication, and writing skills.Proficiency in technical writing and data analysis. Fluency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and InDesignProficiency in ArcGIS/QGIS and RemixUseful skills would also include knowledge of coding languages such as Python, ArcPy, R, or SQLKnowledge of the MTA's subway and bus system and the geography of New York City are highly desirable. An understanding of general transportation and land use planning concepts, including street design to accommodate different street users including buses, bicycles, and pedestrians.
