ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:
The Institute for School - Community Partnerships, Integrated Services and Child Mental Health and Educational Policy in the College of Education is nationally recognized research and training center that provides technical assistance to school districts and other service delivery leaders throughout the United States. The Institute's $20 million budget is derived from grants from federal, state, and private sources. It is the mission of the Institute's to implement research-based and innovative practices in Florida Schools though the use of technical assistance, training, coaching, and program evaluation. The Institute, through various projects, seeks to help enable all schools in the state of Florida to provide a safe, effective, and efficient environment; to continuously improve the academic and social/emotional growth of ALL students; and to engage families and communities in the schooling process.
POSITION SUMMARY:
To provide administrative support to the Student Support Services staff.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform administrative duties for the Student Support Services Project. These duties includes, but are not limited to, assisting in the interpretation of internal and external policies and procedures which are required for the daily operation of the project. This information is provided to the program director and fellow workers verbally, in writing or via email.
Serve as liaison with other internal/external agencies including the Florida Department of Education and the sixty-seven school districts in the State of Florida. Answer the telephone, greet visitors and direct them to the appropriate professional.
Demonstrate a commitment to the University's established standards of service; interact professionally and effectively with various customers in both routine and non-routine situations; establish and develop collaborative relationships with others in the community.
Participate in achieving organizational unit goals and objectives and works effectively with other colleagues at the University. Accepts and carries out current and new responsibilities through resourcefulness and self-reliance. Develops sound, timely, and practical solutions to daily challenges and unique conflicts.
Logs, assigns and files Correspondence coming from the Commissioner and Chancellor's Office.
Provide administrative support to the project's consultants by conducting research, preparing reports and handling information requests. Assist in the planning and coordinating of meetings and conference calls. Prepare and distribute materials for meetings and conference calls.
Maintain files and/or databases for different workshops/conferences involving the Student Support Project.
Assist with ordering and receipt of routine office supplies. Assist in determining the need for equipment, furnishing, routine and non-routine supplies and service/maintenance needs.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, with two or more years of experience in an Office or administrative support position. College or other relevant post-secondary coursework may substitute for the experience requirement on a year for year basis. Testing may be required to assess competency on word processing software.
PREFERRED:
3 years of verifiable experience in an office environment.
