Longwood University invites qualified applicants to apply for the position of Staff Auditor / Auditor I (00100) in the Internal Audit department. The successful candidate will independently plan and perform audits of the university as directed by audit management and will effectively communicate audit results and prepare written reports.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Draft audit programs that identify the audit objectives and the test work designed to accomplish the objectives based on control analyses

* Plan, perform, and document compliance, financial, information technology (IT), operational, and performance audits while applying the standards established by the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA)

* Conform to the IIA's Code of Ethics to promote an ethical culture in the profession

* Develop conclusions from work performed as to the effectiveness of management's controls

* Effectively communicate audit results through organized and concise audit workpapers and prepare the initial drafts of written audit reports addressing corrective actions

* Perform special project work and other duties as assigned, including advisory services

* Assess the adequacy of management's corrective actions through follow-up reviews

* Complete a minimum of 40 hours CPE per year in audit related training

* Pursue CIA or similar certification, if not already obtained

Job Requirements:

EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field;

* Master's degree preferred

* Demonstrate effective problem solving, analytical, and organizational skills

* Ability to work independently and cooperatively with audit team members and university personnel

* Effective interpersonal and written communication skills

* Working knowledge of Microsoft Office

* Professional experience in accounting and/or auditing preferred

* Experience with higher education operations, university systems, and compliance/regulatory requirements preferred

* CPA and/or CIA preferred

Additional Information:

This position is a full-time, classified, exempt position in a pay band 4. A successful fingerprint based criminal background investigation is required. The selected candidate must complete a Statement of Economic Interests. AmeriCorps, Peace Corps, and other national service alumni are encouraged to apply.
