Why are we hiring Staff Engineers:
- We are building a very flat engineering organization - we'd like the leaders who set the technical direction of the company to be writing code.
- To do this, we must hire well-rounded, experienced engineers who have succeeded within other similar organizations.
- While our team may grow over time, we'd like to hire folks who make problems simpler and pull others with them.
- We're looking to make sure the scope of the problem space affords every individual ownership over a whole problem or strategy - we will only hire as the problem merits more owners.
Office policy: Hybrid (a couple days per week) in our Brooklyn office. Full-time remote is not an option. What will you be doing:
- Help set technical direction for the company.
- Think ahead and help the team see around corners.
- Lead critical projects and support other engineers.
- Own core pieces of our system.
- Ship code on a daily cadence.
- Work directly with customers.
- Make product decisions.
Tech Stack:
- ll AWS, a number of service within that umbrella (Lambda, EKS, RDS, EC2, etc.).
- Full node.js on the backend.
- Moving towards more Kubernetes.
- React on the frontend, though moving towards Web Components.
Must have:
- 8+ years of experience building and scaling critical production systems.
- Involvement with company leadership as an owner of technical and product strategy.
- Experience leading projects which involve collaboration with peers and customers.
- bility to write and debug production-quality backend code.
- bility to design new systems and evaluate the tradeoffs in time to market, scalability, reliability, performance, and maintainability.
- desire to focus on customer needs and solve real world problems.
- Experience with Kubernetes or Docker.
