Our comprehensive services aim to guide, comfort, and care for our clients, patients, and their families.If you feel a connection to our values and attributes, we invite you to apply for this role.Position Overview:The Staff Chaplain is responsible for advanced and specialized emotional-spiritual-coping distress screening, spiritual assessment, and chaplaincy interventions with patients (and families) admitted to hospice, contracting hospitals, and other facility contracts. Collaborates with chaplain colleagues to provide spiritual care services to distressed patients, families, and staff experiencing insufficient coping and meaning-makingMinimum Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's or master's degree in divinity, theology, psychology, or related discipline from an accredited school of higher education.
  • 1 unit of (Clinical Pastoral Education) CPE within 6 months of hire, from a training site accredited by the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE).
  • Commitment to work towards becoming a board-certified chaplain with annual reviews of progress.
  • Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) training certificate within 24 months of hire date.
  • Competency in Electronic Documentation.
  • Available to work evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as part of the on-call staff.
  • This position is designated as safety-sensitive and will require passing a pre-employment drug test, which includes cannabis testing in WA State
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ecclesiastical endorsement.
  • 1 unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) from a training site accredited by the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE).
  • Advanced and specialized knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures of hospital spiritual care ministry in an acute medical setting; ability to develop and follow a patient's plan of care, based on Job Description 1480 FOWLER STREET | RICHLAND, WA 99352 | (509) ###-#### | TCCBESTLIFE.ORG Rev. 04.23.2024 Page 2 of 7 a comprehensive spiritual assessment. Chaplain experience with medical oncology, cardiology, emergency, pediatrics, and other hospital-related experience.
  • Skills of interpersonal and empathic listening using a non-anxious presence.
  • Ability to establish, maintain and contribute to effective working relationships with others and function positively as a member of various interdisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to work confidentially with discretion and knowledge of current clergy-confessional regulations and limitations.
  • Knowledge of and ability to provide emotional and spiritual guidance and social support in relation to the patient's bio-psycho-socio-spiritual needs and the interdisciplinary plan of care.
  • Knowledge of personal and faith development plus the beliefs, practices, and restrictions of the major world faith traditions; ability to effectively serve populations that are socially, culturally, and/or religiously different from oneself, demonstrating tact, patience, respect, and discretion.
  • Skills to prepare required clear, concise, and consistent documentation of patient visits, and to maintain required electronic records, reports, and statistics files. Knowledge of all required documentation standards for medical/legal reporting situations.
  • Skills in verbal and written communication, including English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary. Proficiency in Spanish is a bonus.
  • Knowledge of and ability to consult on biomedical ethics theories, moral principles, and clinical ethical discernment and deliberation protocols.
  • Once the chaplain obtains the CISM certificate, the ability to lead critical incident stress debriefings using the nationally certified model

RequirementsBenefits Mileage Reimbursement: $0.67 per mile, for eligible positions. Vacation: Accrual of hours each pay period based on hours worked.
