The Staff Data Engineer will be pivotal in advancing Wellnecity's data platform. This hybrid role combines leadership and hands-on engineering to design and implement scalable data exchange solutions.

As a key contributor, you'll:

  • Lead and grow a team of 2–3 engineers while directly architecting and building solutions.
  • Shape the future of Wellnecity's healthcare data platform to process and exchange healthcare data including claims, enrollment, biometrics, invoice, and other related data.
  • Collaborate closely with product and technology leadership to deliver impactful, scalable solutions for internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design & Build: Architect scalable ETL pipelines and data ingestion functionality for batch and real-time data ingestion workflows.
  • Data Transformation: Create robust solutions for processing healthcare datasets (e.g., medical claims, pharmacy claims, enrollment, and biometrics).
  • Application Development: Develop cloud-hosted microservices deployed as Google Cloud services, including Cloud Functions, Cloud Run, Pub/Sub, Tasks, and API Gateways
  • DevOps & Automation: Ensure all applications are deployed through CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation with tools like GitHub Actions and Terraform.
  • Technical Leadership: Mentor team members, review code, and uphold engineering best practices.

Required Experience:

  • Expert level proficiency in Python programming.
  • Experience designing and implementing event-driven architecture and microservices.
  • Strong understanding of DevOps principles and hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines using tools like GitHub Actions and Terraform.
  • Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and cloud platforms (Google Cloud, preferred AWS/Azure are acceptable)
  • Experience working with healthcare data, particularly with medical claims and/or pharmacy claims.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field or equivalent experience.

Nice-to-Have Experience:

  • Experience working directly with FHIR, HL7, or any healthcare data exchange standard
  • Experience with document-based data systems (MongoDB preferred)
  • Experience building, implementing, or maintaining EMPI systems

  • Strong communication and design skills.
  • Proven ability to deliver high-quality solutions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience gathering and implementing requirements from business and technology stakeholders.
