DescriptionPosition Summary: The Education Clinical Manager is responsible for the educational needs of the agency. This includes overseeing and providing staff orientation, scheduling, and performing in-services for agency staff, keeping staff informed and updated regarding changes appropriate to their practice.Duties and Responsibilities:1. Identifies and prioritizes educational needs of the clinical staff evidenced by:
  • Constructing educational plan each year in response to established needs as identified through record reviews, outcome reports, and needs identified by the clinical staff and management team.
2. Provides attendance records to the Performance Improvement Administrative Assistant of all staff development classes/in-services within the agency from all departments and reports same to Human Resources for incorporation into employee files through Kronos.3. Maintains professional resource library: texts, journals, videos, and magazines.4. Assist nurses in obtaining desired medical/nursing information to improve knowledge and practice as needed.5. Coordinates the reviewing/ updating of the Home Health Nursing Procedure Manual as needed.6. Oversees the Agencies orientation program for new clinicians as evidenced by:
  • Review of nurse's competencies as part of orientation and maintenance of skills checklist.
  • Coordination of observation field visits for new nurses. conducts visits as necessary to demonstrate care and serve as a role model to be observed by new orientee.
  • Conducts visits with the nurse orientee to assess skill level and interactions with patients in their home.
  • Provides supervision and oversight including documentation of the orientee during the orientation period.
  • Documents observations noted during home visits to be reviewed with individual nurse and clinical manager.
  • In coordination with the clinical manager determines when orientation has been completed and assists with transfer of the orientee to the Clinical Manager.
  • Recommends changes in orientation process, nursing care, and documentation.
  • Orients new staff regarding established standards and outcomes.
7. Plans, develops, and schedules in-services to meet the ongoing learning needs of the Agency.8. Assist the Director of Clinical Operations in planning and coordinating the Performance Improvement/Educational projects for the clinical staff.9. Maintains super-user status for clinical applications, documentation, and use of the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).10. Collaborates with the Director of Clinical Services and the Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) Educators, to provide staff with changes in policies and procedures regarding practice issues.11. Coordinates the Agency's Nursing Student Preceptor Program and orients them to the Agency.12. Provides educational in-services for health facilities and community group as requested.13. Adheres to all agency policies and procedures as per federal, state, and local laws and regulations.14. Collaborates with the Director of Clinical Services in the management of the Infection Control Plan.
  • Provides direct monitoring and education on the VNSHS five key components of the Infection Prevention and Control plan: Surveillance, Investigation, Prevention, Control and Reporting as per VNSHS policy.
  • Responsible for identifying and providing Infection and Prevention Control education to the CHHA staff.
  • Oversees and coordinates all vaccine's clinics for the administration of vaccines to include clinic sessions provided off site.
  • Educates and supervises clinicians in administration of vaccines and immunization clinics..
  • Oversees the management, ordering, storing, and dispensing of all PPE inventory.
  • Oversees and manage and monitors all education (written, in-person and /or virtual) provided to the CHHA staff related to Infection Control and Prevention.
  • Identifies, provides and managers appropriate tanning related to infection control and prevention such as but not limited to N95 Fit Testing, proper and effective donning and doffing and storage of PPE.
  • Monitors the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Department of Health websites for alerts/updates on current/potential infections.
  • Oversees all Medline's supplies ordering and management in conjunction with WOCN and serves as liaison for Medline.
  • Service as clinical nursing resource to non-nursing managers.
  • Provides coverage for the telehealth nurse coordinator as directed.
  • 18. Adheres to all applicable federal, state, local laws and regulations.RequirementsQualifications:
    • Registered Nurse currently licensed and registered to practice in NYS.
    • Baccalaureate degree in Nursing preferred.
    • Minimum of three to five years in certified home health agency preferred.
    • Familiarity with home care and its implementation.
    • Able to function autonomously and work well with others.
    • Skilled in techniques of therapeutic communication and capable teacher.
